Random Irritations

So they've basically built the road but no one can actually use it yet. Is that right? That is just teasing you 😄.

Mind, at least you can actually look at 'what might be'. I'm just looking at a field still, with minimal expectation that it will ever be anything but a field 😭
Yup, it’s been built for 3 years, even the signs are there though covered over. It took ages beforehand to get planning and resource etc so probably has been coming for 10 years or so at least. Shocking planning and all the problems that it was built to alleviate (mainly trucks having to drive through villages and also take huge detours etc.) are of course still there.

…but today's was that people are just realising that the 'female' vocal part in Teenage Dirtbag is just the male singer putting on a silly voice. OF COURSE IT XXX IS! How could you ever listen to that and think it was a real female singer?? I know these things are likely just made up for clicks but it still makes me angry every time. 😆
You are of course way too young, but I can recall me and my mum having a chat about whether, when we first heard it on the radio and before seeing it on ToTP, the singer of Puppy Love was a bloke or a girl. Yes Donny Osmond…but to us he was a new kid on the block back then and I‘m pretty sure we decided female.

A bit like the initially most confusing lead singer of Culture Club…even or indeed more so when I saw the band on ToTP for the first time 🤔

The massive dosser cyclist this morning on a busy dual carriageway and roundabout. A few cars in front of me overtook him before they came to the back of the queue for the roundabout. Cyclist veers right and slides between two rows of cars re overtaking the previous cars, blasts onto the roundabout and veers hard left behind a lorry and in front of a Range Rover who had to slam on his brakes. No doubt if the Range Rover had put him under the wheels of the lorry it would have been the drivers fault.
Absolute dosser.
Btw I wasn’t in the Range Rover lol, I was 20 yards behind watching it all unfold.

Wonder why the cars felt it necessary to overtake the cyclist when they were just going to be joining the back of a queue where the bike would obviously just go past them again. 🤷

Were you there?
They overtook the cyclist a good 500 yards before the back of the queue, you couldn’t actually see the queue as it’s on an uphill bend of a dual carriageway and the junction is usually not too bad in a morning.
Can’t really see how you can even try to justify what the cyclist did, another day he could have ended up under the wheels of a vehicle with the crazy manoeuvres he did.

My knows how much I'm hating my office at the moment, and yet on my one day working at home - which I look forward to - she decides to start an argument over the most nondescript issue and ruin this day for me as well. Thanks, we'll just walk round in silence for the day now then before we revisit this argument in the afternoon. Perfect.

Sorry, no, I wasn't. I agree that the cyclist was a dick.
Just experienced in seeing drivers so focused on the primary objective of
MUST
OVERTAKE
CYCLIST/HORSE/MOPED
that they don't look beyond to the queue they're about to join the back of.

I agree but in this case, despite how unbelievable lol the car drivers weren’t at fault.

Bloody train fares in this country... My son's (child) train fare went up from £77 to £90. At this rate it will be cheaper for me to drive him to school than him taking the train. Controlling inflation .. (my backside)

How do the railways justify a 16% increase in fare for a 1 station hop... and they have reduced the number of trains in the morning from 4 to 3 on his route..

My son’s school bus has gone from £300 to £900 over 3 years.

The ever increasing number of levels before a film goes from Cinema to streaming. It used to be that films were released at the cinema then went on the relevant streaming channel at the same time as the DVD release. Then they added a period where you could pay about £10 to watch the film on streaming, then there is a period when you can buy the film to download, then there is a period when you can pay to rent the film and then it comes to streaming. The benefit of a some streaming subscriptions was that the film went straight to streaming after the cinematic release but now they have to milk it a bit more before that happens.

everyone will be priced out and education will become optional soon. As one of those in charge recently said about new standards, if it is good for India, then it is good for UK.

I will keep this as non political as I can

The railways are run for profit unfortunately

We have the least funding from central pot than most counties and it equals higher fares unfortunately

Until 2015 tfl used to get 500 mil a year grant to keep costs down then it was taken away and fares are one way to get the income in.

I think I kept that neutral 😐

Could be because the objective is to maximize profit rather than tp provide service?

With the twins at nursery I suddenly have a lot more free time.

Which the wife rightly points out I can do more jobs around the house again.

So now we (I ofc) will have to have an awkward conversation with the lovely cleaner as to why we don't need her once a week anymore.

Fun times.

If she's good and reliable - keep her!

Get that side but ATM I don't think we need her and with the twins starting swimming (which is the same per week as their sister is per month!) Could basically cover that cost
