Random Irritations

it's unfixable then

Well sort of lol.
I did find the issue, the Firestick was set to output in 4k Dolby Vision which in turn locked the aspect ratio settings on my tv. I lowered the Firestick display output to 1080p which then unlocked the tv setting but the options were worse than the original one, it’s like I need to zoom out not zoom in 🤦🏻
I can’t find a setting on either the Firestick or the IPTV app to change any of this.
God I’m such a nerd 🤣

Phone Apps that after manually changing the location from internal to external memory, somehow move themselves back to internal memory and screw with my available storage space meaning stuff stops working until I sieve through each one to see what's causing the issue

City Fibre blocking access to our property without any notice, thankfully as it's our wedding anniversary my wife doesn't have any clients today otherwise they'd be stopping every hour to let them cross, let's hope they finish today as they've promised.

Next door have carers come three times a day for their elderly parents, I hope they've found a solution for them.

The ever decreasing area of men's departments in shops that sell both mens and womens clothing. Many shops near me used to have a reasonably well stocked mens department but the floor space given has been shrinking rapidly as the womens departments expand to the extent that it is now about 1/5th the size and has little of interest. I have now given up and aside from the odd trip to meadowhall (there the mens sections are also shrinking but there are more of them) I have gone almost totally online for clothes shopping.

We have a fish guy that comes to our Village once a week. The same applies to a local farm shop.

I asked whether they do an itemised bill and the answer was no. The butcher just bangs some numbers on a calculator and quotes £35.45 or whatever. I have no idea of checking and when asked she just laughed!

Whilst there cannot be any true figures for their tax my question is: Is it legal not to let a customer have an itemised bill?

I will also add as a further irritation that the man creche in these stores has also disappeared. Gone are the days where shops had a comfy sofa or 2 with the weekend papers available so as men could be kept busy whilst their partners tried stuff on (yes, I know how sexist and all other types of -ist that sounds but that was how it used to be)

Argh… bloody bureaucracy!

We have to stay an extra night in France! The Vet in England who did the dogs paperwork didn’t tell us that he needed a worming tablet 1-5 days before going home. Got to the Eurotunnel to be told we have had to take him to a French vet to get the pill, then we have to wait 24hrs to travel!

Only hotel I can find that will take 3 and the pooch… €300!😩

Puncture in a brand new tyre (well, 3 weeks old) this morning. The angle the offending screw went in was strange. And stranger still it was on the inside wall. If on the outside wall I would have possibly said deliberate. Ha thankfully I don’t have to worry about any ‘beef’. Messed my golf plans up but luckily sorted in time for daughters show. The other irritation is that they didn’t have the same exact tyre in stock to match the other tyres. That will nag at me no end.

2 Fridays ago my Mrs had her Gall Bladder removal Op at Wycombe hospital and I had to pick her up about 8pm
Set off around 7.15 and gotmto Wycombe by 7.40 only to find the main Rd closed for roadworks
There was no diversion signed and no notice of the closure coming into town.
The roads were gridlocked and it took another 45 minutes to get to the hospital
At one point we sat for 10 minutes and didn't move.. I was following the other cars as, although I used to live there and passed my test there, the roads have changed dramatically
At one point everyone was going through a NoEntry sign to get out of the jam..I followed asmit seemed the only way to go.
Picked her up about 9, got home etc etc
Got a letter today with photos of me going through the sign .
The Mrs thought we were getting fined but, on reading further, it was only a warning/don't do it again letter.
That's because they must have had 300+ cars doing the same thing because someone couldn't be bothered to put up diversion signs....
I was already composing my scathing letter outlining the incompetence and feel a bit flat now I won't have to write it...

Bit of a case of chicken and egg perhaps - you say you've gone to online shopping because the men's departments have got smaller. A lot of men have gone to online shopping years ago as they find physical shopping a hassle, and that's probably why the men's departments have got smaller.

My wife laughed at this and said have you been in a pro shop lately?

Both are cases of demand tho isn't it? Retailers stock what they have most demand for

I remember Mia baker moaning on rick shiels podcast about American golf not stocking more than like 3 pairs of ladies shoes. Whilst we need to get ladies into golf if the demand isn't there why would a business stock it?

People changing their mind about getting lunch in at work but not telling you before you get in

Could have brought food got plenty in the freezer waiting
