Random Irritations

Getting a speeding ticket for doing 35mph in a 30mph zone of a main road out of Sheffield - it was 22:45; it was a Sunday night; there was nobody about and virtually no other traffic on the road…and I had just driven down from Glasgow, dropping my lad off in Sheffield. Yes OK…I was speeding…but…just irritated…🙄

Anyway…I am not particularly consoled by my wife and son both telling me that when they got done for speeding (neither anything very serious I should add) they took the speed awareness course and found it very interesting. Yeh OK.
Sadly the issue lies soley with you whatever the circumstances. I would suggest the course if offered

I strongly believe if everyone had to attend one course every 5 years we would have a better standard of drivers on the road as when did people last read the highway code?

So many people didn't know national speed limit

Or that lamposts with no repeaters in a build up area means 30

I would go further and for newly qualified drivers have some form of refresher test after 12-18 months and if you get done for speeding within 3 years you should re-do the test.

They basically have the last bit. 6 points in first 2 years is loss of licence restart

I had to do that when I got 6 points for crashing my car after a year. Had to start again. Rightly

Sanctimonious bores.

I hope you’re not going to be one of those idiots who constantly complains and questions the guy running the driver awareness course. Had one of those bores about 10 years ago and it dragged the course out an extra hour or so 😴
No I won’t be…it’s my own fault and my lad and Mrs are always telling me to be careful of my speed when driving in Sheffield…and I wasn’t - which is irritating as I usually am.

I wonder if the limit should be down to 3 points.

Too strict. No wiggle room

If someone got done once then they slow down or lose licence and they learn

Where as use your phone is 6 points so instant loss

Majority of problem drivers aren't the newbies it's the ones like Phil says blames everyone but themselves for their actions and think they own the road

Dentists . 0830 open. 0900 appointment . 15 minutes appointments I believe so only 2 in front of me

0915 still waiting

Thought private was supposed to be more efficient

It is - you are not the dentist, however.
He or she needs a constantly full waiting room in order to be efficient.

Dentists don't really have any competition in an area. They can be as tardy as they like and you largely have to suck it up. It's a broken system, sadly.

My last appointment I was first in at 8.30am. Still didn’t stop them calling me at 8.50am. Twenty minutes behind BEFORE they’d even seen the first patient of the day.

They can't keep up with those wanting to take tests for the first time let alone an extra few hundred thousand assessments every year...
DVSA is such a severely flawed organisation...it needs disbanding and starting again.

The craziest aspect of this is that people who have a history of demonstrating they are able to pay these extortionate rents are deemed unable to pay a similar (or lower) amount on a mortgage.
How is it fair that someone is encouraged to pay someone else's mortgage instead of their own?
My eldest, self employed tiler, rents at a sum far in excess of what a mortgage would be and never missed a payment.
Renting used to be the cheaper alternative to purchasing. Not any more. Worked out how much he'd paid in rent once, could have bought the house years ago.
So it's save for a deposit, put away for a pension, save some in a rainy day fund as well as pay a ridiculous rent. They're really up against it youngsters of today.

My car insurance, vehicle tax and MOT all being due at the same time. I've just realised I should have bought the 6 month tax instead of a year's worth to stagger it out for next time, but it's too late now. It's like £900 in one hit altogether. 😵‍💫

To be fair you could pay them monthly 😜 except for mot

I was lucky that my mum was very much into saving and I managed to save around £30k to go on the deposit of the first house my wife and I bought. I feel so srry for those trying to get on the ladder but is it any coincidence more and more flats are going up in towns so more rents can be charged. A cycle begins that your eldest is finding, and not alone, that is hard to break
