Random Irritations

i never used to rate the French cars but the wife has a new 3008 and the build quality is very Germanic and high quality

The vauxhall I had is the same as the Peugeot 208, my god the quality was shocking. The steering wheel wore , the roof paint of the two tone flaked off in a patch, the seat split at the seem. I was very unimpressed

This is basic

Not to mention at 3 years old the window regulator failed.

The Kia I have now is night and day compared, it's done 16000 miles, 1.3 years old and it still feels like new inside

that Corsa was not great but you are comparing an older smaller cheaper car to a newer larger more expensive one. But the quality on the new 3008 i would say is better than most and actually surprisingly good - albeit i would have still rathered the Kia Sportage or Hyundai Tucson but the deals were less good and the wife loved the 3008 - and a happy wife is more important than my view!!

it was a 2020 though, which is only 5 years ago.. ive been in the new ones when they tried to convice me to stay and they arent amazing. the peoguets look better however its still the PSA group which i wouldnt trust

the 2020 hyundai kona I got for the wife is a lot better quality than it for sure.

plus the vauxhall app was awful. spent about £1 on their servers lol

There’s always lemons in any brand, and often people judge by that one item. :)

It's not just one, the Facebook groups are full of them. The Kia one tho has very little issues compared so not a case of people just spreading bad news
My wife has just bought a Kia Xceed GTline s. 23plate with only 6.000miles on the clock.
It's top of the range and I think a beauty!

When I was driving for a living 2014 - 2022 we used to have Kia ceeds on the fleet and they were the worst car, cheap plastic interior and was like driving in a tin box!

Now in 2025 the difference is night and day, a beautiful car, inside and out.

The only downside is that it has so many warning noises, so when I'm driving with the wife as passenger I have the double nag if I ignore the warnings! 😂

My car is named after My wife. It nags as much

Mrs is thinking about us getting a replacement car (maybe 2 yrs old). On her shortlist at the moment are Volvo XC40 and Kia Sportage ( I don't know the models but guessing that the Mild Hybrid is the equivalent to the Volvo XC40). Both seem very popular and get good reviews - so not at all irritating that these are on her shortlist...more irritating that I haven't a clue about cars, never mind about what's best between these two or any other candidates.

A friend of mine has an XC40, he has just changed an older one for a newer one. Lovely car, not too big but feels solid on a motorway. A very nice place to do miles.

The only criticism is that it is largely devoid of buttons and so everything goes through the touchscreen centre console. Make sure that you are okay with this.

I can't speak for the Kia but if you choose the Volvo, you will have chosen well and you will not have to worry yourself about it.

I've got a '19 my xc40, it's a D3 so a 2.0ltr diesel and it's great, it's the Inscription Pro model which was the highest spec available at the time, I spend some time on the xc40 forum and it's evident that there are spme more issues with the newer B3/4/5 variations which I believe are hybrids, the general consensus on the forum though is that they are great cars, they're certainly very popular around here now where I live

and although mine does have a central touchscreen it's just for things like the Sat Nav, Comms and Heated Seats etc, it still has normal switchgear for lights and wipers, can't speak for the newer versions though

Dentists. Had a private filling a few weeks ago because was waiting for a root canal on NHS (apparently complex ..... Can do next week privately. Ofc you can)

Anyways the private dentist said in her opinion just a filling no root canal but if get pain she will upgrade it to root canal and will cost what it would have just pay the difference. Fine

It don't feel like it's settled so booked in to check it

30 mins on hold for the receptionist to find out if I have to pay and couldn't understand that I shouldn't have to pay £35 because she's checking her work over "that's up to her I don't talk for her" ok what's the point of you then? Seriously.. your supposed to know these things .. it's literally your job (also why have you taken 30 mins to say oh it's her decision not ours)

Take a peek at the Mazda CX5, petrol 2ltr and auto if you want.
Very easy to drive, and get in and out. The boot is a good size and all the doors open to almost 90 degrees, which makes getting in and out for anyone or anything very easy.
The 2 ltr petrol engine is a very reliable unit as well, being Japanese:)

of those i would go for the Kia - and also consider the full hybrid (self charging) auto rather than the mild hybrid

Replying to nobody in particulalr but in defence of PSA...I've had 3 Peugeots....the first, a 407 did 160,000 miles and never caused an issue, nor had any cosmetic or similar wear and tear problems. The second, a 508, racked up a similarly trouble free 260,000 miles. Now on a 3008 which is proving every bit as good as its predecessors and has an interior which is a pleasure to be a part of on both short and long distance journeys.

Whilst I'm not a French car lover as such, if they were that crap the French Government would have gone bankrupt years ago and brought back the 2CV.:)
As I said before, every company has their lemons.. whatever the company make.
