Random Irritations

You should ask them for the menu of services they provide and then tell them the ones you don't use and can they be deducted from your bill.
You might be joking but my wife works for the local council and someone recently emailed in asking for their bill to be recalculated. Their car had been hit by an unidentified driver and the police had let them down so they didn’t want to pay that element of the bill.

Apparently there is a new government requirement to collect food waste weekly. Our food waste is included in the green waste which is currently collected every two weeks. The council is considering collecting the green waste every week as they believe it is cheaper than providing a specific food waste weekly service.

I wonder if food waste is processed differently to green waste.
Although food waste could contain meat products I suppose.

It's half serious. Up here they're using the excuse that not everyone has garden waste so they should pay extra. What if people don't use social work, libraries etc then are they not paying for services they don't use?

Personally I think that the emergency services should be able to claim off a criminal for costs if they have broken the law. When a case goes to court and a criminal is found guilty there is also court costs. Why not costs for emergency services. If someone decides not to stop when persuaded by the police and causes a crash, damage, requires ambulance, fire brigade etc etc. if found guilty, pay for the time, and equipment used to deal with said crime. Why do I pay for it as a tax payer. If it is an accident no pay.

You would end up paying for it as an insurance payer if this happened I think.

Businesses have a few things like this. We have to pay LFB £100 I think it was every time we call them out but the rule book says we must call them if smoke is reported etc

Just a moving money from one pot to another

We get weekly collection of all recycling stuff including food waste but not larger green waste which a paid for service every 2 weeks, refuse is currently once every 3 weeks but there is talk of that going to 4 weeks.

I do not know if it has changed but you used to be required to give insurance details to the NHS if a visit to the A&E was as a result of a car accident.

We stayed for three weeks in Stockland, Devon last year, I had no clue about the collections. I just put it all out every Thursday!

Wasn't it Noel Coward who sang "Mad dogs and Aussie folk go out in the midday sun..." ? Still, I expect you will be wearing the traditional wide brimmed hat with dangling corks to keep the flies out of your eyes and gritted teeth to stop the flies gaining entry to your mouth.

Apologies my friend but I couldn't resist it ;)

What I didn't mention before when we were talking about Bunbury, was that my 4th G/grandfather was escorting some ne'er do wells on their "holiday" at Her Majesty's pleasure.
