Random Irritations

He's a tw*t. 👍
😅
It's a gamble.................

It will depend on how much he moves from business to politics. If we take Trump, he has moved publicly into politics almost 100%. If Musk does the same then the comment will only be seen as political. If he stays mainly as head of twitter, Tesla etc, then you can abuse away, within reason ;) . I suspect he will be back to the business realm quite shortly so the issue will no longer be there.

Amongst the many irritants of this morning, Amazon.

"We thought you'd like Fender hoodies or T-Shirts"... Why? Why did you think that?

I have never bought any form of clothing from Amazon. I have never bought any Fender product from Amazon. So tell me, Jeff Amazon, where in the name of algorithms did you conclude that this is what I might even like, let alone buy!

I believe his department plans to close itself within a fixed time period. He wont be there for long and will be back into business.

Not sure if this is classed as political or not so apologies if so.

Clarification please...

Does this mean that any comment about a politician - even if the comment is nothing about their policies - will be deemed to be political?
For example, if someone were to say that <person who happens to be a politician> is obviously suffering from grandiose narcissism, that's a political rather than medical comment?

Yes, this is what I have been advised. To think otherwise is “naive” apparently.

Someone on a local news website is claiming hardship after they lost a lot of money when the travel company they booked with went bust. Yes, they lost the holiday but the money wouldn't be available now if they had gone on the holiday (in fact they may have spent more). If you couldn't afford it, then you shouldn't have booked in the first place.
Is this a joke? You don't think people should be upset at paying hundreds of pounds for a holiday and then not getting one?? They might have saved up for two years for that holiday. I guess you must be rich.

In this instance given, yes that is in the realm of political comment.

It really isn't that hard. If someone makes a comment about a political individual that could start a political fight on here, it is not allowed. For good reason.

If you want that discussion, there are plenty of other forums out there where you can fill your boots.

Has banning political discussion had the desired effect?
If you mean, has it brought peace, love and harmony to the forum, no. If you mean has it stopped a great deal of unpleasantness, in-fighting, an avalanche of reports for mods to deal with, warnings to hand out etc. yes, it has worked.

It depends what you perceive the desired effect was, but to most, including those who operate the forum, the ban has ticked a big box.
