Random Irritations

BBC forecasting, on the app at least, is rubbish these days.

I’ve said it any number of times, BBC weather forecasting is rubbish.

Not because they get it wrong so often, because I get that it’s an inexact science. But the fact I can refer to an online forecast, local TV, national TV and radio forecasts, all for the same area, and get four different outcomes, is farcical.

Exactly. After seeing the BBC forecast of fog, I then looked at The Met Office, and they were forecasting a sunny day.

None are supplied by the broadcaster surely, they just report someone else’s data. I believe they no longer use met office.
Yes I believe the BBC use some French company for their forecasts.

edit - from Wiki - On 6 February 2018, BBC Weather changed supplier from the government Met Office to MeteoGroup after an open competition.[1] The Met Office had been the provider of weather information for 94 years.[2][3]

Multiple different weather satellites getting different readings due to location

Not supplied as such, but presented by. However it works, for the BBC to have the ability to provide four different forecasts for the same area is pretty impressive.

Ever since Michael Fish in 1987, the BBC has covered its bottom by offering a range of forecasts for the same day like a Pick'n'Mix.
How many times have you been on the course saying "Well this wasnt forecast!"

We often have this 'laugh' in the clubhouse when players use there phones - several different weather apps all giving different forecasts.

Personally find the the local BBC news on the box to be best but sometimes switch between BBC West and BBC South West for a comparison.

My playing partner said yesterday " We wont be playing next week, the course will be closed. Have you seen the forecast?"
I'll trust my bedroom window, thanks.
