Random Irritations

Come back from Me Cruise and had a mint time. Quickly back into the fold having grandkids and checking on parents. It’s young Bradley Tashys 12th birthday on Sunday and his dad has told him He won’t be having a proper birthday cake “
As there expensive”. .
Tosser has just bought a 2nd home in France but don’t have £10 for a birthday cake. 🤬

Don't blame him! Lol I'm still losing the arguments that the twins should share a cake. Apparently it's one each.

So much waste 🤔

The thing is it’s the thought that counts. Pets better than nowt. Tell missis Pj87 you have bought a pack of 6 wagon wheels. That’s the next 3 years sorted. Me I love an ALDI Cuthbert the caterpillar. 😁

What I am saying is that some drivers get comfortable and complacent with the tech and are then not ready to react when the computers fail.

Id wager the tech makes the roads a lot safer as failures are rarer than drivers who are complacent regardless.

Lol 🤣 she thinks your calling her an internal combustion engine.. explosive lol 🤣

See I'm full invested in the tech in my car..whenever I drive to work as soon as I hit the A roads I'll stick the adaptive cruise control on at the speed limit and let the car slow down and speed up dictated by the car Infront. I'll kick back with a podcast ready to take over for roundabouts, coming off the A road

I'll use the steering assist to keep the lane (I have to keep my hands on the wheel or it flashes "keep hands on wheel" at me)

It's a good system thus far. Keeps me from speeding and in stop start traffic it just creeps along

Goes one further on motorways it will even change lanes for me lol 😂

My theory is with all the assistance on it feels safer, just takes an extra layer of risk out of driving

Plus driving near London is so boring anyways
But do you think with all that assistance effectively making it safer, could also become dangerous if you do not concentrate fully. Take cruise control, all very good but, you have to totally concentrate, as in, if something happens suddenly ahead, you have to be ready to act immediately.
Sometimes it can leave you with a false sense of security.

Have you driven with adaptive cruise control? Not normal cruise control. It reacts very quickly to anything

I've been cut up by someone overtaking me and it has slowed down safely without me having to act.

I've had it for 8 years on my Golf. I really don't like it. I much prefer standard cruise control.

Why's that? Standard is ok, but doesn't help when you catch up a car in front. At least this adapts and always keeps a preset space

I found I used a speed limiter more than standard cruise control and just set to the limit

To right.!
I was cruising in ACC and someone shot across three lanes from the on ramp.
Car detected it and slammed the brakes on
So from 70mph to 30mph with a lorry right up my backside.
New underpants job.
Havnt used it since.

A human would not react like that and would lift off but not slam on.

Yes I have. And it is safe but you still have to be aware of any situation that can occur.
I think it's a case of using the safety features but you being the main controller of the vehicle at all times.

Ditto. Had it happen a few times. Don’t use it now.
