Random Irritations

That long? Jebus.

My 2500H is 6 years old and still going strong. Rare for Denton units to fail too.

Yeah, it also developed a random audio buzzing fault about a year ago which wasn't ideal, the new Virgin stream box seemed to have sorted that though.
It doesn't help my missus works from home 4 days a week and leaves the tv/amp turned on ALL day, so much so when I bought a new tv a few months ago I couldn't get an OLED as I was too afraid it would get screen burn
I'm off work for a couple of days so I'll pop the lid off at some point but I'm more electrical biased rather than electronic

Well well, just tried it again and it's working 😲 we did have two power cuts last night so I wonder if it is related 🤔

We have a tower fan/heater in the conservatory, where I work from home. Remote control disappeared ages ago as the little one threw it somewhere and it was never seen again. You can control the fan function manually on the device, but not the heating function. It apparently is possible to connect to it through an app and control it that way - but I have tried for over half an hour and it simply will not locate the device. Guess I'll be wearing two jumpers today then.

Black Friday. It's a one day thing isn't it? The clue is in the title. It's been going on for a month now. And I have yet to see a proper Black Friday deal.

It's in 8 days, at which point some of the prices will be "slashed" to match what they were in January.
According to Amazon, Black Friday Week lasts 11 days.

@GB72 found this fascinating thread about the IHT changes

Good article and very informative. I still know people who will be impacted but that does not remove the problem area of wealthy investment for tax purposes that is mentioned. I think that there has to be a middle ground that, for example, allows family owned farms to be placed into a family trust that can take ownership of the land so long as it is run and farmed by the family but with a punitive payment due if the land is sold or repurposed or tenanted to other farmers.

I still feel that there is a more nuanced approach to this somewhere which can close the loophole being exploited by the wealthy whilst preventing the farming community as a whole.

This with absolute bells and whistles. Do we want profitable farms that pay tax on their earnings and profits to end up as small parcels of land that are no longer profitable or do we want the Clarksons of this world to bury their money in unprofitable, hobby farms that are inefficient and, ultimately, unprofitable.

Oh look, billionaires and millionaires griping about paying tax, supported by a biased media.

What I found most revealing in the thread was one of the biggest land owners owns the daily mail . No wonder reporting has been very one sided

Unfortunately we have been conditioned as a country to feel sorry for millionaires it seems.
