Where did you get said salt? I keep using dishwasher salt when it gets icy .. be better to use the real stuff
We have a water softener. The local block salt supplier we used to use supplied the current bag but, like others have said, most homewares and DIY shops and garden centres sell it.

Thanks for the idea 🙂

I previous employment I was told that "if we grit paths and someone falls over, we are liable. No gritting, no liability" or words to that effect.
Pathetic though isn't it? A friend who works in emergency contingency planning recently told me that places like schools are better off having no emergency lockdown plan than a decent one that's found to have unforeseen flaws should the worst happen. Similar level of stupidity thanks to money grabbing litigious types.

I feel like getting kids medication is becoming more and more difficult

Every time I go to get them paracetamol another brand has switched it's flavour to strawberry.. (my kids are allergic to it)

Tesco for a while did cherry which was fantastic. Just add to a weekly shop. Then they switched

Now my chemist has switched even tho before it was cherry

I had to go to 4 local chemists, read the ingredients to find a mango and pineapple one

Then convince the guy to sell me 3 bottles as all 3 of them have colds and I explained to him how hard it is to get now so it's not like if I run out I just go get another bottle

Luckily he let me

Do you know that most of the flavours have nothing to with the actual fruit.

My nephew works for the company that specialises in making up chemical compounds to taste like them.

If it does not say the fruit in the ingredients it is not in the product.

You have my sympathies, my son was allergic to so many substances the allergy nurse said it was a wonder we managed to feed him.

Yeah however my wife is still allergic to strawberry flavouring. Same with strawberry hand wash, wet wipes or whatever . It sucks

Luckily I found an online pharmacy that had cherry so ordered 5 bottles to get us through the winter. They will have a good date on them so long as we have a supply it's golden

Very frustrating tho because we can't just nip to the chemist and grab

At least neropfen offer an orange option that's easier to get hold of

Uncleared and ungritted pavements. The roads are now fine where I am today in Notts but the pavements are a massive hazard for pedestrians.
Any old folks walking outside will be risking a potentially life-changing fall for the next week. Why don't we clear pavements?

One of the big cut council backs where I live in Somerset is what roads are gritted, they no longer do any minor A roads and definitely no B roads.

When it come to pavements there is now a problem with the law.

When I was young almost everybody cleared the pavement outside of their house as I understand it these days if you do it you are also legally liable for any accident on any part you have cleared or any area you have deposited the snow or ice.

Where I worked over the road they made the flavourings for crisps.

Jeez some of the smells were awful.

Sweaty sock flavour anyone 🙈

When I was a lad the council did all pavements around shops and public places.

I think it was the liability under the law that stopped them doing it.
Plus all the cuts to services this was one of the first to go.

Black Friday deals that start the day after you purchase an item at its original price, having waited for the best part of three weeks in November for the price to drop.

There is a game I like to play called "how can the daily mail make this a bad story"

Normal article "fireman saves cat from tree "

Daily mail spin

"Immigrants cat wastes tax payers money being removed from tree by overworked fireman"
"A fireman who will receive a gold-plated public sector pension on retirement at 55."

The baker or people who didn't like the result last night? (wrong person went imo, but I'm not going to go wild on social media about it)

The baker - stamping their feet because they can't do it. They were fortunate Alison persuaded them to carry on. Everyone else has failures and start from scratch without saying "I can't do it and I won't"...
