Random Irritations

Son had his first eye checkup…. Unfortunately he has myopia in one eye. No wonder he could not see any fast bowlers this summer and lost his depth perception … poor kid got hit too many times, and I thought he was being lazy.

Well you can fix that for him now and he'll be smashing them all over the outfield any day soon.

Swimming lessons.

When I was a kid (queue the hovis music) there was just one local pool. Me and my sister went for lessons. It was divided into 4 sections and you moved up to the deeper ends as you improved

Now days? I can select from 3 local pools.

My daughter last week was ready to move up a level but like her friend is stuck where she is as there is no spaces in the upper levels .. they just seem to take less people in classes now! Also they don't plan for move ups. They don't move whole classes up together or least work that everyone gets to a standard

New person drops in and they all start again. Today she just played in the pool for half an hour. Waste of time

My twins? 3 lessons thus far at a local school (private company runs the lessons and they hire the school pool) we couldn't get them in groups yet so they have whats called a 122 lessons them and one teacher. Their 3 and already in 3 weeks are showing some real improvements

My eldest been going 2 years. She showed more improvement with me for one week on holiday than she seems to at this everyone active class

It's nothing on her she can do it , just the constant changes of teacher. Constant starting again. Or muck around weeks just setting her back

We now trying to get her into lane swimming at the other place

Even if it's the same level as now and not move her up at least she will get some structure for goodness sake

(For what it's worth the group lessons aren't much more than the lesson she on now like £10 a month) but the twins lessons? Jesus same price as what the eldest pays a month is paid per week

I'm hoping one day they go right a group is 4 we got you to same level let's just start a group with your kids and add someone else 😜

I'm almost sure I saw a video clip of her giving him a bear hug and lifting him off the ground, before he actually kissed her.
Or am I mistaken 🤔
A different clip of the same incident was released later and it showed that he jumped into her arms and she hadn’t lifted him. So many different versions of the same story it is hard to work out exactly what did happen

She doesn’t exactly push him away, and she even lifts both feet off the ground. That said, the kiss on the lips is pretty much the last thing he does. The kiss on the cheek is something we’ve had to get used to over here but you’ll virtually never see a kiss on the lips.

It's not really is it.

I have a rental car at the moment while mine is in for repair. It's a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid. It may be the most annoying car I've ever driven. It makes noises for everything it does. When the doors open, when you enter the car, when you turn on the ignition. My missus laughs as I am constantly telling it to STFU! Their is a bar (spoiler) across the rear window which blocks what I can see from the mirror. I will be so glad to give it back.

Bought a dozen boxes of laminate floor a couple of weeks ago that I finally got around to fitting yesterday. I'd say at least 10 or so planks aren't straight and have a small bend which makes fitting them impossible. Luckily we bought more boxes than we require due to an offer the store had so we have enough to finish.

I removed my Daughter from the first place we went for Swimming lessons as her ability went backwards! It was a similar setup with the pool divided into sections, she was in the 3rd group and they just swam widths, the only problem was there was so many of them it was bordering on being dangerous, we turned up one week and they'd moved them all down a level and she spent the time just stood in the shallow end, I then complained and the week after they were moved up two groups and expected to do more than they could - I told my wife we either removed her or my polite enquiries were going to stop being polite! We then got her into a much better swim school, slightly more expensive but only 4 per class and she's come on leaps and bounds and is one tick away from completing level 6, yet her cousin who stayed at the previous place still can't swim!

The ‘All New Structure and Design’ (their words) of Lonely Planet guidebooks is certainly that, and if you valued what they used to be like and what they contained you will quite probably hate the new 2023 edition.

Sure…lots of lovely colourful pictures and graphics, but…and it’s a BIG BUT…they ain‘t a lot of use for anything other than getting an overview and generally trip planning. A shame. Was given the 2023 Spain for my birthday…and really I should have had it returned.

If you want detail and lots of nitty-gritty info, it’s seems that Lonely Planet guidebooks are no longer for you.

It's just frustrating isn't it

Then the new place just annoyed me a tad.. they emailed the waiting list (we on it for eldest) last week to say following spaces available

One group (one we need) said max in group 5. Currently 3. Spaces available 2

Right so 2 spaces available?

Emailed got this back

"It’s not available I’m afraid.

I have 4 in the group already with only 1 spare and I don’t like to be maxed out.

I’ll take a look at the schedule and see if we can squeeze her in elsewhere."

Right if your not willing to put 5 in a group why did the email before say 2 spaces Available max in group 5 lol 🤣

Telephone receptionists who seem to reply with ''perfect'' after you reply to their questions.

Her/him...What car is it?
Me...A Nissan Leaf
Her/him...perfect
:(

I remember test driving a car with my then girlfriend once and the salesman came with us and his response to every question was "absolutely".

"1.6 diesel so it must be pretty good on fuel?"

"Absolutely"

By the end I was just thinking up random questions to see whether it would change his answer.

"I imagine this has a pretty good NCAP rating, do you think it would be okay in a motorway pileup?"

"Absolutely!"

She bought the car.
