Random Irritations

It may have been a drag hunt, there are a few around my way.

Possibly. I'm always a bit suspicious though. We didn't encounter the pack but we know where a family of foxes live and the gate to that field was unlocked and open plus a couple of 4x4 vehicles parked close by.

Driving to work monday I go off the a406 as I normally do at that time of the morning to go round the back of tottenham. My road is closed half way road works "follow diversion" so I do , took me through a road that had the old LTZ plant pot things .. so next day I thought right go straight on not right and avoid that.. sat nav says go this way .. "bus gate" had never heard of one of them.. turns out you cant go through them.. whoops lol.. done a bit of research.. it was erected 3 weeks ago , ironically reviewing the dash cam the first day was fine because it said "end of low pedestrian zone" so I didnt go into one.. so trying to avoid that I ended up going through this new bus gate lol

every days a school day. I now know what this sign means

Bus gate.jpg

My online searches of the high way code only showed it with "only" underneath didnt release it means only those modes of transport can go through this area

no point appealing as Im clearly in the wrong. I just thought these type of things were Red signs with no through EXCEPT buses and cycles

every days a school day

next time I know the below picture is fine to go through, ah well lesson learned

I'm confused just reading that and still wouldn't be sure where I could and couldn't go! I recall when I hadn't long passed my test. Parked in a side street which had the sign "no return for 60 minutes" - so I didn't - even though the limit was for 30 minutes. I was so confused - got a ticket!!

I've been reading further, what I drove through Monday was just a school zone where you can't drive 08:30-0900 etc so at 06:15 I was fine anyways lol 🤣

Never been the other way as I always turn right

Turns out this bus gate went up when I was on leave last month

Up until 4th sept warning letters went out from 5th is fines so it's very new

If only UK power hadn't closed the road I'd of never even gone down there lol 🤣

But my own fault, least I've learnt about bus gates

No doubt it's been done to death on here, but car insurance renewals.

Last years was £230. Nothing has changed over the last 12 months, renewal price £451!

edit - I changed my car 6 months ago, and had to pay an extra £30, which brought the annual figure to £230. So on a pro rata basis, I'd expect a base price of £260 plus inflation.

I've just spent 5 minutes on a comparison site and got a quote of £291 which is a bit more like it.

Covid!

Due to get married on Monday and my eldest daughter's girlfriend tested positive last night.
She could have had it a couple of days and could be clear on Monday. However, if I was said daughter I would give her a wide berth for a few days 😖👍

I had my insurance renewal come the other day.. it has gone up from £215 to £231. Think I will take that.

Today's District Line tube ... Had to be at Hammersmith for 12noon. Points failure at Gloucester Road (or thereabouts) meant we were stopped & stuck in a tunnel for about 40 mins and so half hour late...
