Random Irritations

9 and 10 would lead to my entire holiday wardrobe consisting of a single pair of the smallest budgie smugglers... for all occasions... for the entire holiday.

Trust me - no one wants this.

Trying varifocals. Been back with them once and picked up new ones yesterday. They are also going back. I can't cope with them.

I've never tried them but hear they can be really awful to get used to. I wear mono vision contact lens (es) so basically one lens for distance and other eye uncorrected. Helps distance and reading. Might be worth a try...

Make sure they're fitted correctly
When I first got mine the base of the frame was too close to my upper cheek and it threw everything off..
Manager took one look at them when I went back, bent the frames a bit and Voilà.....

Thanks Amanda. May well ask them about that. We did try different lenses in each eye a couple of years ago when I first went for contacts for golf but couldn't cope with that.

It doesn't work for everyone but I've used it for years. Brain works out which eye to use whether you're focussing close up or distance. I've noticed what the brain actually also does is make me tilt my head to use the correct eye for the task in hand. Don't even know I'm doing it. Cheap lens cost too as I only use one!

Thanks but they did that yesterday. The main problem is looking at my monitor and keyboard. Couldn't get but right for my home desktop so I've no chance with my work setup.

Mine work for looking between my phone close up and a telly further away but middle distance like a computer screen just doesn't work at all.

Yep, that is the issue I've been having. They did suggest an option would be another pair of glasses just for at the computer. I said I'd rather just take my single vision ones off like I do now.

I spent the best part of 15 years wearing one contact lens. As Amanda identified, the brain works out how to see long distance ( corrected eye) and also short focus ( normal eye) for reading. Eventually had to wear two lenses to correct long vision to be legal for driving. Since retiring, I‘ve stopped wearing lenses but do wear glasses for driving.

Mine were great for reading and long distance but awful for looking at the dashboard or desktop screen. Gave up and just have reading glasses. Reconfigured the part of the dash that would display bigger numbers, and I have a large screen iPad.

My distance vision has improved as my close vision worsens. So far managing without reading glasses and have been known to forget glasses or lens and drive - oopsie. Think I may well be legal though as didn't even notice...wouldn't risk it though!

The take away at work not labeling the dishes lol

We think we had the right ones but hey 🤣 still tasty

Reporters who love the sound of their own voice who insist on giving us a 3 minute back story to answer a simple question. Just tell us something we don't know.

Stupid pigeons who insist on secretly trying to build a nest in a bush in my garden, right in front of my kitchen window.
Especially when there are hundreds of acres of countryside right next door.

BBC "sports" journalist covering the Giro story and being asked if Cavendish is riding in Le Tour. She didn't know. Come on it's only recently been announced.

Actually journalist is the wrong title I guess for presenters on Breakfast. Presenter is enough...

I saw that and winced as well. The quality of 'sports journalists 'on breakfast is awful. In essence, they are just people who read the autocue. Sally Nugent was the most clueless, now thankfully moved from sport. She would make weekly gaffes that anyone with even a passing interest in sport would know about.

What cracks me up is the next time she's on she adds the part about Cavendish retiring after the tour as if she always knew it!

Before Eurovision the entertainments guy, in a pre-recorded article, said "the blue and white of Ukraine is everywhere". I rewound it twice to check! Next time that is played it's been edited. Who the heck makes the mistake and who the heck lets it go out in the first place. Bet their phones were ringing off the hook.
