Random delivery of dishes in a restaurant

Like MegaSteve I like the grazing idea, bit like a buffet I guess. But when it comes to full meals how do you have conversations with people who are eating whilst you're not, and vice versa when your meal arrives... just seems so wrong to me.

Food 'culture' elsewhere doesn't always work with our more regimented expectations of a meal out...

I quite like meze/tapas style meals where I can 'graze' over a couple of hours whilst enjoying the company of family/friends...

Me too, but a la carte should have a certain sequence and timing to it! :D A badly run service is just that...

Only experienced this once and it was a while back.

Didn’t have any issues and wouldn’t put me off.

It’s like people who pile their plates up with two or three things at buffets...

So let's see if I get this right...

Go to restaurant with "different" style of service. Have this explained to you. Order anyway. Don't like the "different" style of service.

Yep, struggling to understand the problem here!

Personally I have no issue with these sorts of eateries - happy to eat my starter whilst someone else is eating their main course. Quality of food is paramount and this style of cooking makes sure that nothing is sat going cold/needing reheated the way it would in other restaurants.

My Misses often has 2 starters, first one as a starter , 2nd one as her main course, along with a side dish, like chunky hand cut chips, or chilly fries.

It is a bit of a strange concept to westerners but I've eaten in my local Wagamama's loads of times and to be fair the food does arrive very quickly and in my experience everyone has their meals within a couple of minutes of each other.

I wasn't complaining about it in my op, just wondering what everyone thought about it
