DP World chairman in the Epstein files with a torture video. Not the best look

There's a deafening silence coming from those in the golf media who were quick to take the opportunity of disparaging LIV and it's golfers when they signed up to be paid by the Saudis....

These are shocking revelations of course, and I suspect could be a massive problem for the already struggling DPWT - the last thing they need is more strain on their cashflows.

In what way is the DPWT struggling ?

There will be a lot more revelations from the Epstein that’s going to affect a lot of people all over the world

No doubt the chairman will be removed and DP world will move

They’re struggling financially - described as a ‘distressed asset’

I hope they can ‘move on’.

Quite clearly the worlds golfing media want to ignore the fact that the chairman of the title sponsor is a massive wrong un.

Who is calling them a distressed asset ?

Is this really a subject to use as part of whataboutary

What is it that the golf media are going to say about it - it’s clearly a very sensitive subject so prob best to keep counsel right now and let the main media now run with it

It’s clearly a very toxic complicated subject and no doubt more revelations to come

Certainly not a tit for tat situation

The PGAT described the DPWT as a distressed asset

The published accounts show significant losses.

The chairman of DP World has been sending torture videos to Epstein.

Financial backers of the DPWT are suspending their investments.

All these things could have an impact on the sustainability of the tour.

I just find it odd, that very few members of the golf media are prepared to do some journalism on the matter - I suspect they've been asked not to - understandable, but if the revelations were about a member of the Saudi Royal family or a senior person associated with LIV, it would be exploding across the golf world.
If that's deemed as whataboutery, so be it. (y)

Don’t you mean financial backers of DP World not the golf tour

2 Great events to watch this week.

Anything at Pebble Beach is a great watch on TV, hopefully the weather will show off those incredible vista's
Liv Golf Adelaide is their jewel in the crown and one of the best atmospheres in pro golf

Bring IT ON!!

As much as Pebble is absolutely iconic and somewhere I’d love to play. I rarely watch the golf there, when the US Open is there I’m glued to it. However this event just holds no interest, the Pro-Am events are just boring and no doubt more fawning over Bill Murray’s pathetic attempt at golf humour.

Alison Lee 2 under after day 1 in Saudi, playing with rental clubs as hers are stuck in Amsterdam. She had to buy a putter in the Pro Shop as she uses a broom handle and it’s 4 inches too long.
Also Brontë
Law playing 3 months after giving birth to her baby boy. Good stories out in tour especially as local(ish) girl Mimi Rhodes is in the joint lead on -8.

The way you shamelessly push your agenda and manipulate facts is quite pathetic really.

Liv is owned by the Saudis and under their control.

DPWT is not owned by DPW and not under the control of DPW, it’s just a sponsor. Can’t you see the difference?

What financial backers of the tour have suspended their investment?

The news about the DPW chairman is not a golf story.

The PGA Championship should travel the globe.
If it was rotated between say two years in the USA then the third year rotate it between Australia, Japan, South Korea or South Africa for example, it would become the most important in a short space of time.

The US is by far the biggest market for golf in the world. It’s bigger than all the countries you listed combined. Taking a tournament away from the US would reduce its overall popularity and appeal.

I have just finished watching Peter Finch on YouTube, playing all 18 at Pebble Beach, trying to break par.

I'm not a particularly big fan of him, but lingering, close-ups of all the holes and often from angles rarely seen during a tournament make for a great watch for anyone who is a fan of the course.

I'll be watching this one more than a few times.

Mostly, but watching some “celebrities” hack their way round isn’t.

To be fair I've found this has become a lot less intrusive in the last couple of years; I wondered if they've twigged that there's an entire internet full of bad celebrity golfers so they need to focus on their USP (which is the best golfers in world). I think I saw about 30 seconds of Murray and about the same of the odd random retired sportsman holing out a dodgy stabbed chip last year. It's a lot less bad than the Masters for showing pointless rubbish rather than concentrating on good golf.

Now I've said that there'll be 53 repeats of Murray doing a stupid dance or his hat falling off or something :D
