Professional Golf

The course is very much marmite , take away the party hole and it’s a desert municipal with very little redeeming features

There is a fine line between fun and acting like a drunken clown - as we saw in the Ryder Cup
Serious question Phil.
Will you watch it?
You obviously don’t like the course and hate the party hole.
You are not obligated to watch it and then tell us all that it’s disgraceful etc.

I watch very little US tour golf so doubt will watch any of it

That doesn’t mean it’s easy to avoid any antics that go on when it’s splashed all over social media

He has such an underrated swing when you watch him, it’s absolutely flawless. Just never seems to get the same plaudits that other swings do for whatever reason

Yeah his swing is great, just looks so efficient, he is sneaky long.

It's the putting which has held him back from being a multiple major winner. He's just never holed enough in his career.

I think he's a better putter now though than he's ever been. You're right, he was known for not being a great putter in his younger years. But now I think he putts great. Probably wishes he had his current putting level in his early 30s.

I probably won’t watch it either but I don’t think antics will be splashed all over social media.
I actually find it very easy to avoid to the extent I would have to go looking for it.
If I wanted to I could even see the results and not see anything about the 16th.
It will be a load of yanks tanked up on rubbish half alcoholic beers whooping and hollering.
Same as every other year.

Repeats of previous years are already over social media

It is the same every year , they tried to curb it a little last year with fans getting thrown out but all the major golf accounts on Instagram, Twitter ,FB and the tours own accounts will be posting throughout the event

Like I said I have not seen any repeats of last year.
It’s really not difficult to avoid if you feel that strongly about it

Bah humbug 😝. Stop being so stuffy. It's fun, once a year. The players clearly buy into it, they enjoy it.

It's a cracking course, it looks glorious whilst everything is drab and grey here right now.

I hope those that dislike it do us all a favour and don't watch it, don't share their annual moral outrage.

I don't mind the party hole or obnoxious "fans". It's a unique event held once a year.

I don't think it's a cracking course though. Actually it's quite bland apart from a couple of risk/reward holes, and the tee shot on the 18th is no longer dangerous because the players can all bomb it past the water these days. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this course is all fake lashes, collagen and silicone, it's no natural beauty.

It’ll be interesting to see if the yanks tone it down a bit after the fall out from the Ryder cup. I doubt it.

I’ll probably watch some of it, I usually do, it just depends how noisy it gets!

I think it’s close to the worst week of the year and think it’s bobbins.

That said, the PGAT should cater for a wide variety of fans with different tastes, not just me, so holding the event is a good idea.

As mentioned above they throw in a course and event for those (me) who love a unique stunning course with history, and a proper test, the very next week; so less golf telly this week and a whole lot more golf telly next week is not such a hardship.

Don't disagree with the criticisms mentioned but I do acknowledge how well they do with having such high numbers through the gates every year. Very impressive. As above, it's something a bit different.

Last year's winner is playing elsewhere this week, only R1 completed but he is joint leader. Maybe he just likes this week of the year!

Patrick Reed off to another flyer in Qatar, leading on 7 under.
Seems he is a bit of a level ahead at the moment on the DP Tour.

He is by far the stand out player and just keeping himself going until August time

Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets some invites to some PGAT events

It makes these earlier events more interesting

He certainly isn’t a favourite golfer of many but he is a quality player

Funnily enough I just saw an interesting video on how the change to the claw grip fixed Rosey's putting:

Particularly interesting for me as I've also moved to the claw/pencil grip in my last two rounds and liking it so far.

He could have been the difference between the US winning instead of losing the Ryder Cup - we'll never know of course but he is a world class golfer.
He wasn't really in this kind of form last summer though was he? I don't remember hearing about him this much. There wasn't much talk about him making the team.

He was yeah, lowest finish on LIV was 11th place in the last 5 events, and his data golf stats show that he was consistent through the summer.

Haven't been here for quite a while. Superb win for Justin, hope he can get into the mix at Augusta & finally win a Masters. Weather is so crap at the moment here in the UK isn't it? If any of you moderator types are about, feel free to update the this thread title!
Finally I can relax. 5 weeks of stress looking at that :ROFLMAO:. All done (y)
