They'd prefer to win a major, I think that's obvious.
Yes obviously they would but there is a lot of prestige attached to it and normally it sets the winner up for a good season.
The PGA is only important as it’s major, take that away and I think the players would be a bigger competition

I'd love to see how you substantiate that argument Orikuru.

It's a PGAT event, ergo excludes some of the best players in the world, has very little opportunities of alternative qualification, and the whole event revolves around a par 3 hole.

It's the strongest event that the PGAT put out in terms of field strength, but it is nowhere near good enough to be considered a major.
PGA Bad
LIV Good

We got it Mel 👍

Why are people overthinking this? Calling it the 5th Major is just a nickname, like when you call something the 8th wonder of the world or say somebody has a sixth sense. It doesn't mean anything. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Unfortunately nowadays everything and everybody has to have a label, just seems to be some kind of fad. Just like everyone needs to know who is the best ever at something. Most labels are pointless.

If the Players had a rota of venues, would it be regarded as highly?
Perhaps not. Maybe it is liked in the same way as many like The Masters, because it is the same course each year?

That can be a strength but also a weakness. The Masters has many multi time winners because it suits their game. Held at another course, maybe they would have fewer majors?
