Ok so he can divide opinion and be a wee bit boring BUT when just asked "did you ever do that Peter" when viewing a windsurfer on the sea he replied, quick as you like, "yes, I used to do it with Laura Davies on my shoulders until my legs went"...

Funny guy

He's generally still quite good early on in the day, afternoons are a bit different. I wonder what he has for lunch at times. :)

Heard a tale from one of his fellow commentators that 30 secs before they were due to go to air he was still fast asleep but :D on cue woke up and was straight into "classic" Alliss

He brings something different to the table, compared to other commentators. Seems a bit sharper so far this year - less mistakes?

Bit of a shot panning round the course from the sky this morning and he says something along the lines of. Told someone yesterday that that piece of land was earmarked for the new ladies par3 course!

Could listen to him all day long, and makes Montys efforts seem even more embarrasingly bad!

Just me that can't stand the doddering old fool then.

yes he makes the occasional quip but he fills the remainder of his airtime with utter drivel.

Golf without Peter Alliss is like Formula 1 without Murray Walker.
Sure he makes the odd mistake, but he is a legend.
It will be a sad day when he's gone. Make the most of him.

Exactly. He realises that we don't need the minutiae of detail that some of the others bring. In the States I watched the Scottish Open with Frank Nobilo & Dennis Hutchinson commentating then got back for the last day with Sky. How I wished I could have had the Golf Channel back.

Alliss is a class act, pretty unique and extremely interesting.............

nothing more to see here, move along :smirk:

I'd love to sit down to dinner and listen to some of his stories and if Terry Wogan was there as well, with both their dry humour, it would be a meal to remember.

I think he's great. Only he could have had people in hysterics talking about how Fluff Cowan kept his lunch under his moustache whilst the live tv feed showed fluff talking to Tiger about his shot. All you could see was his moustache moving and Peter was in full flow of.... "I should've saved that for later. . Where's the biscuits?. . . I thought I had some pickles in here somewhere."
Classic
