Open Competitions 2015

I use Golf Empire all the time. I play in seniors singles, pairs and 4 ball team events. We try to play different courses each year but always play at Sapey.

Beau Desert online booking for theirs opens Jan 1st and always go pretty quickly.

I'll be entering one of the am/am comps either may or August bank holiday.

Already signed up for the St. Annes 36 holer and will be looking to get in ones at sherwood and Hollinwell.

almost all of the courses in Devon and Cornwall have opens too. Sauntons easter weekend 36 holer is a bargain, and can be coupled with Royal North Devon the day before.

Still think Golf Empire needs to improve its layout. why not calendar view? it would be amazing if you could have a calendar and then filter by area etc. just a thought.

Yeah I agree, it would be an excellent way to find back to back opens over a weekend or whatever to plan a little trip away.

Email them Sam.....go on, you know you want to

I think golf empire are trying to do something about searching by dates but they haven't managed it yet and it's clearly needed.

Saunton is one I am well up for, why have I committed to playing in a team open at Grimsby on the good Friday argh!!

Been looking at Silloth, beau desert, Huddersfield, the Leicestershire, saddleworth, dewbury and Hornsea.

There are a couple of good open weeks worth looking at:

Eden Tournament at St Andrews in August - Entries open in Feb
Crows Nest Tassie at Carnoustie - Entries normally open at some point in Jan

These are both a fantastic week of golf at great value, both comps fill up very quickly!!

I've an eye on a few

Royal Aberdeen
Cruden Bay
Murcar
Dunbar
Woodall Spa 36 holer
Conwy

Word of warning to those interested in the Wallasey open, I'm led to believe it won't be as cheap as years gone by, potentially as high as £50 to enter. Unsure if details are released yet.

I'll add my traditional moan about the lack of women's individual opens. Loads of courses I'd love to play that don't have one. Plenty of others are dropping off the rota and being replaced with greensomes and the like. Even fewer held at weekends.... :( Browsing on Golf Empire the situation seems even worse south of the border....

Still a few that I'll play, however, Duddingston and Mortonhall in Edinburgh are great, there's one at Carnoustie every year that's a must play and I usually play Dunbar even though it's held midweek. Will be keeping an eye out for others when the season approaches.
