Golf clubs around the country will start to announce their Open Competitions for 2015 from January 1st.

Are there any you particular look out for and enter immediately?

Are there any you've always wanted to play and will do this year?

The prices to play in some of these Open Competitions are excellent value and with a chance to win some prizes is just an added bonus.

I'll be looking out for Wallasley & Moortown as always but I'm going to have a pop at Sherwood Forest and possibly Woodhall Spa this year also in their singles, but now I'm the ripe old age of 55 (I know I don't look it), I can enter Senior Competitions so I might look for some geographical partners around the country and look to enter some Pairs Competitions.

It's worth signing up for email notifications on golfempire

not played in any opens before but have thought about it. maybe this year..

I'm 55 in Aug 2015. So even more comps will open up for me.
I played in a few opens in 2014, as most have said good value & fun.
I use Golf Empire & look out for the local good value one's.
Can't wait to retire from work & play in even more.

Plan to do the mixed open at Belton Park this year and possibly/probably Gogs - then see what else we fancy. Oh and Luffenham Heath with the ladies as we enjoyed it so much this year and are hoping for something less than gale force winds!

Would like to find a couple that are on courses neither of us have played. Managed 13 new courses this year.

Generally Opens are great value and we've always met nice playing partners...

Signed up for the 36 holer at St Anne's Old Links.

West Lancs do a 36 holer I am tempted by aswell but haven't really looked at many others.

Apart from scratch opens on the YOM tour I like to play in pairs and 4bbb. And had success at Lindrick in pairs and team events. Looking to play in team events at quality courses this coming year and I like these 3 day 3 courses events too.

I've signed up for the 36 holer at St Annes old links but that's about it.

I do fancy one of these 3/4 day comps in Scotland and I'll try and make the effort to sign up for one of the Silloth opens.

Not noticed these before, that golf empire site is fantastic for showing whats happening when. I did notice that there arnt many gents single opens, more pairs, ladies and seniors. Is there any reason for this?

Opens @ Wynyard, for anyone who's interested.

Sat 18th April 2015: Texas Scramble Open Four Man Team - £70 per team of four players

Sat 30th May 2015: Four Ball Better Ball Open - £70 per team of four players

Wed 10th June 2015: Ladies Open @ £20 per pair

Sat 20th June 2015: Gents Open @ £35 per pair

Tues 4th August 2015: Seniors Open @ £25 per pair

Sat 29th August 2015: Four Ball Better Ball Open @ £80 per team of four players

Sat 5th December 2015: Christmas Texas Scramble Open @ £60 per team of four players

We have quite a few Opens. The best one looks to be the Mens Open, 36 holes, scratch and handicap prizes. £55 including two course lunch and prizes. You can also book a practice round for £25. If oversubscribed balloted out on handicap.

I noticed this too and a lot the single men's comps there are, are for cat 1.
Have a look a the amateur tours as an alternative not so cheap but still an option for a day out at a quality course.

Would of done 36 @ st Anne's and west lancs but need to trim handicap first.
