LIV Golf

It’s the same with most reality telly when they have celebs or z lists etc playing or staring
Its all about the views i suppose and The Duels will become one of the most viewed golf videos on YouTube.

To give Liv some credit this was a great idea and allowing the creators to put it on their channels is clever as you directly access their large You Tube audience.

The next one is going to be on Rick Shiels channel.

The Creator/Pro collaboration works really well as you get amazing golf shots from the pros and relateable golf shots from the creators.

The numbers speak for themselves and it’s already outperforming the PGA Tour’s efforts in 24hrs to reach the same digital-native crowd with the Creator Classic.

This is more than just a successful video—it’s a blueprint for the future of golf content on streaming services ans sponsors will be looking at it.

If the PGA Tour are smart they will look to pair up their stars with creators..

Thats if the creators will turn up after the PGAT tried to ban them from playing in The Duels 🙄🤔

It wouldnt surprise me if Liv look to sign up some more of these creators like they did with Rick Shiels..
They must be trying to sign up Grant Horvat as he is the hottest You Tube creator right now.

I can fully understand why it’s popular - it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone

Would hope that it doesn’t over shadow the actual man serious golf if it starts to get more eyes on than the tournaments

It’s the same when you see the you tube boxers getting millions watching them

What are we giving LiV credit for? Have they done something new or inventive?

What it does highlight is just how poor the golf watching population think a regular LiV tournament is, when something like this dwarfs the main event viewing figures.

I agree 😳 however right now its a good thing for Liv to get this extra coverage.

Getting more eyeballs on their golfers/product is important and a good thing for them..

There were defo more feet on the ground at Liv Miami which is positive with it being a US event.

With a deal now looking very unlikely growing their audience is key.

Credit for being the leading most influencial tour in the world.. 👍

Completely different metrics and ways of measuring them though.
YouTube = total views actually measured
Regular broadcast = estimated average viewers extrapolated from a very small sample

Very much doubt that would make any difference as he is the type of guy who was driven by competing against the best according to his autobiography.
Faldo would never have gone to LIV and I doubt Seve would either. Not at any price. They measured majors as their targets and playing against the best around the world and in the RC. Both wanted to be playing and beating the best in the world and that meant the Americans especially in their back yard

Regular run of the mill PGA Tour events are stale and boring to watch it’s as simple as that. Having a fresh perspective on competition golf can only be a good thing in the long run. LIV is different and I can see how it is more engaging for some viewers.

The duels on YouTube was miles better the even the 2nd version of the pga tours creator classic. Like not even close, it was more enjoyable to watch than most run of the mill pga tour events.

LIV are just a start up and they will obviously make mistakes along the way but at least they are different, the worst thing they could have done is try and copy the same 72 hole borefest we see on the tour most weeks.

No-one demanded appearance money (and withheld appearances when they didn't get it - even resulting in missing a Ryder Cup) quite like Seve. He certainly would have had a price.

Re the bit in bold, the same comparison could be drawn between a regular PGA event and the Ryder Cup. I rarely watch regular tour golf but will see almost all of the Ryder Cup. Viewing figures for the Ryder Cup are huge compared to a PGA event.

As for the most influential comment made later in the thread, perversely that’s not a bad shout. LIV have certainly influenced the PGA’s behaviour.

You can compare lots of things. Doesn’t make them relevant though.

Yours is not a direct comparison. The PGA Tour aren’t paying players and content creators to play in the Ryder Cup to market the PGA Tour.
