LIV Golf

Even the PGAT are doing it with their elevated events..

Just got me thinking though - why don't DPWT just say the same thing - play "these" events or face fines or loss of card if you don't.
It just wouldn't work for the ET - players would rather lose their cards than be forced to play specific events.

Lose your card - lose Ryder Cup......
Yep, and players have chosen that option in the past, as LIV players have more recently.
When the big names refuse to comply, the rules necessarily change - sometimes to the detriment of the tour, especially when the leadership doesn't value the tour and doesn't call the players' bluffs.

You have highlighted a strength of Liv where every event features their best players every time.

British Masters used to be a marquee event but has suffered from the decline in the European tour.
The owner of Valdarama said today that he moved to Liv because there had been a huge decline in the field at their european event over many years.

Its a big plus for them and their sponsors to know they are guaranteed the strongest field every time with their Liv event.
UK events have also suffered as a result of UK tax law.
For every event someone participates in the UK that fraction of worldwide sponsorship income becomes taxable in the UK. As such a lot of UK events in a variety of sports have suffered.

Yes another example of THE MONEY making the decisions.
Yassir has the power because they all want his dirty Saudi money, oh sorry its not dirty anymore 🙈

It’s still dirty and it will still be dirty when the other golf tours are getting their hands on it

Saudi getting their hands into main stream golf is another sports washing exercise

You’re dead right it is dirty money, but apparently it’s not as dirty if you are getting it now rather than other people.

Almost the definition of sports washing or money laundering.

I’m not fully understanding this James, could you explain it a bit better please.
Probably just me 🙈🙈

Not been the media uproar though has there Phil.

The PGAT officials should be getting hauled over the coals for this like the Liv guys did but oh no now its the media darlings tour taking the money hardly a murmur about it.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven #hypocrisy

Or just ignore the “media” “uproar” 🤷‍♂️

When the whole thing goes through then strong questions will be asked

Why worry about what the media or a journalist says - most of the time it’s clickbait

Golf channels Eamon Lynch currently being turned upon on social media (Instagram) by very prominent PGAT players about reporting on the merger.

About time that biased ***** got called out..

Imagine you play 30 events in a season. 5 of them are in the Uk.
Under our tax rules 5/30ths of your worldwide sponsorship income is taxable in the UK.

So the fewer comps you play over here the less tax you’ll pay here.

For big events such as the champions league final they tend to get special dispensation to avoid the rule.

Lynch is a massive stirrer, can’t abide the guy.

He’ll be desperately trying to come back at those players with a vitriolic, hateful article right now. It’ll probably be online by the time I have my breakfast in the morning.

Lot of quotes in recent times.

Top Liv Players regretting their decision and want to come back to the PGAT

The merger will bring pro golf back together.

Then in the Liv press conferences DJ, Brooks, Lefty, Sergio all seemed to have very little interest in coming back to the PGAT when a pathway is provided to come back.

If a pathway back is provided and a Liv schedule continues and they all say we're fine thanks we will just play Liv and the majors then it's still fractured... Right.?

They all seemed very content with where they are and what's going to happen in the future.

Are these the same players that declared they weren’t interested in going to LiV etc and then left ?

There is a LIV event coming up , there is no doubt they are going to be positive in the public eye to keep the interest going for the rest of the scheduled events

End of the season and what happens next will shape the players actions

Fair Comment...

Their demeanor and body language is very different to the PGA tour players though, feels like they are very content with what they are being told about the future whereas the PGAT players are very prickly and pushing back all the time about their tours behaviour.

The PGAT handling of this right from the start to this huge hypocritical u turn has been so bad and it was born out of complacency of thinking they owned professional golf because of their position of strength at the time.
