LIV Golf

The overriding message from that is - Money

It’s all money driven and it’s that imo ruined the professional golf for many , it’s started with the PGA offering the big prize funds to get all the best golfers to play on their tour which on turn ruined the European Tour and now it’s just got worse

It’s good though that none of it has impact on grass roots golf because right now tour golf is as detached from grass roots as you can get
Aye, in 2024 when Rai & Noren had exclusively played on the PGAT, then they rock up at the Scottish and bag Open Championship spots.
Feel for the regular DPWT players. 😐

Eh? Scottish Open is (also) a scheduled PGA Tour event. You are unhappy that PGAT players were playing on their own tour? 🤣

I'm pretty sure this only came in last year, the point is still valid, they changed the set up so now less DPWT players can play in it as it is co sanctioned.
So the principal with the Asian tour is exactly the same.
For me though, I think both tours in this instance get better players playing on their respective tours, which in the end is better for golf fans.

Can’t recall when the Scottish open became co sanctioned but again imo it’s another time of the PGAT spreading their wings too much

It was a great ET event - it doesn’t need the PGA players in it

Surely you blame the people that caused the issues in the first place

In all this blame game some very rarely look inwards

They don’t have a pathway because they created a closed shop for the professional golfing world
They had very little intention of fitting in with the rest and wanted everything to change to suit them
Ah, so you mean Jay Monahan, the PGA Tour, and the other governing bodies (OWGR board) complicit facilitating them in abusing their dominant position?

The golfers left because they didn’t want to be a part of the current golf ecosystem- they wanted their own system and way of working but they still wanted all the good things of the eco system they left - and because they didn’t get their way they have used the money and jumped into others pathways

The likes of Kokrak etc struggled to qualify but playing on a lower level tour they are going to be better than the week in week out Asian tour players

For me that’s wrong and not fair on those players that do grind week in week out to try and get themselves into the big comps

If the attitude is “tough play better” - we can forget about growing the game etc and giving those other low level tours a chance
That's quite some McGinley-esque waffle.

Kokrak had long been a top-50 player and was exempt into all majors before joining LIV. What was he struggling to qualify for exactly?

What did we argue about before The PGA Tour ruined professional golf by not taking the call from Yassir about the PIF investing in the PGA Tour in 2019
Or professional golf would have been fine if PIF had chosen a better solution than LIVs proposition, and actually created a tour that truly was as good as they promised. That it is a backwater is not the PGAT's fault, thats LIV, for missing a slam dunk despite the famous infinitely deep PIF pockets.

I dont think any business can be faulted for turning down and outside interest. Nobody is obliged to discuss joint ventures, further investors, or dilution of control, just because someone phones wanting to discuss just that.

Golf Channel have had their say on the Open Qualifying Spots from the international series in Macao.

"Its a small step to re-unification and we need to see more"
