LIV Golf

For someone with such strong opinions on golf Phil, you don’t seem to know very much about it..

Anyway, Pat Perez, roster filler - 3 PGAT wins

Tommy Fleetwodd - zero PGAT wins.

That makes Tommy a roster filler as well I guess?

Didn’t Tommy qualify for his position on the PGAT through his performances

Surely you are trying to compare the abilities of the two golfers - one of them with one single top ten in majors through his whole career , didn’t managed to get into the worlds top 10

Good point but I do feel the same when I hear the term influencer in any aspect of social media
My heart also tends to sink a little when I hear this phrase but it is a major part of life now. They are massively important marketing tools, more important I'd argue, than regular media for reaching people. Oldies like us groan, younger people are all over them, their reach is significant. Those not understanding their importance in marketing are equivalent to those in the 50's thinking rock n roll was a passing phase.

How did Perez get onto the PGAT?

Forget who's who and who you favour.

Golfer A - Top 20 on the PGAT - 3 x PGAT wins
Golfer B - Top 10 on the PGAT - 0 x PGAT wins.

Not withstanding the fact that it's now easier than it has been for a long time to win on the PGAT, which record would most golfers rather have?

I love Tommy by the way, but nothing beats hoisting up a winners trophy.

Tommy

10 professional wins across all tours

Multiple top 5 in majors

Top ten in the world

Multiple Ryder Cup appearances

Pat Perez

4 wins across all tours

1 top tens in majors ( hasn’t made a major since 2019 )

“Easier to win on the PGAT”

Interesting

Is it easier to win on LIV as well

I’m going to guess most golfers would take Fleetwoods career

Not for the anti Livers......they only watch true golf.....but I often wonder why they constantly talk about LIV when they profess to not watching it or know anything about it.....

Want be long before they say TGL is also true golf. :ROFLMAO:
Because most (not all) LIV fans just want to talk about the PGAT.🤣 LIV fans' favorite line is "What about the PGAT" constantly. I rarely see the Saudi tour fans talk about the golf on this board.

LIV fans rarely talk about their tournament during the actual event. I find that odd.

Let's see how the posts go once the Saudi tour hits Miami.

Let's not be silly. Fleetwood is unquestionably the better player, but they have 7 vs. 4 wins at an equivalent level, and almost no American (at least) would swap 3 PGA Tour wins for zero irrespective of high finishes in majors.

Or maybe it's the British Par 3 championship that tips the balance.

What makes winning difficult on LIV is having to beat over a dozen of the very best players in the world on any given week; what makes winning on the PGA Tour difficult is massive fields where the likelihood of someone catching lightning in a bottle on any given week is fairly high (Detry in Phoenix, Highsmith at PGA National, Spaun at Sawgrass, etc.).

See the pro golf thread for discussion of the actual golf.

And in general, LIV fans are just golf fans, and discuss any tour.

Perez has 3 PGAT wins

1 was a co sanction event on the Asian Tour

So “equivalent” wins I guess it’s

2 vs 5

So it’s difficult to win any golf event and certainly not easier to win on the PGAT

But the point was Pat Perez was a roster filler for LIV when it started up

The CIMB Classic had a stronger field than either of Perez's other two PGA Tour wins, and stronger than all but 2 of of Fleetwood's European Tour wins, so why would you discount that?
And 2 of Fleetwood's wins now don't count?

By the way - Pat Perez has already made an impressive switch to on course commentary - a solid addition to the broadcast.

If I was Yasir I'd be flexing the cheque book for Fleetwood. It may well be in both parties interests to get him involved in LIV.

I was using “equivalents” because two of them were co sanctioned with the Sunshine tour

You had 4 wins when one of Perez is on the KF tour

Is LIV not a sure thing ? There is no jeopardy. There is no Dahmen story. Everyone is a winner. Or is nobody a winner on LIV maybe ? Its just collect the cheque and act enthused.
Can see the likes of Mel not liking it at all, but the LIVbots will 'love' it.

If LIV sorts itself out and becomes what it aims to be, or the successor that takes over from it, then there will be a story to tell.
Full Swing ran out of steam in S3. The golf tour story has been told I think. This one is too late to the party. Who is making it, or is a PIF advermercial ?

There is jeopardy for some

Relegation from the tour if you finish near the bottom

Some are saved regardless because they are a captain but can see that changing due to some of those captains only there because of their name now as opposed to how well they are playing
