LIV Golf

Most of the coverage so far has been on ITVx, but with the time difference, it’s not ideal since the events have been airing in the early hours. ITV4 has only shown about 1–2 hours of the opening coverage.

It’ll be interesting to see how ITV handles the coverage once we get to the European and US events, where the timing will be more viewer-friendly.

In particular, I’m curious to see how big they go for the LIV UK event—especially with names like Rahm, DeChambeau, Koepka, Smith, Garcia, and Niemann all playing on UK soil.
Yes I see it's just 2hrs live on itv, but there is also a highlights package too so I'll record that as well.

PGAT may not be able to keep up financially with LIV but it’s got the heritage and the history and the events that players want to win
I completely agree with you.

Much like football, the players now hold the leverage, and this has essentially become a battle over money and talent.

In a parallel universe, if the top 20 PGA Tour players defected to LIV tomorrow, those historic PGA Tour events would instantly lose much of their prestige and appeal.

A deal seems like the best solution to preserve the history and heritage of the PGA Tour's signature events while also finding a way for Yassir’s tour to coexist within the calendar.

The issue will be that everyone will wants best for themselves and not what is best for the sport and the fans at the end of the day

I used to watch a lot of golf , I can’t recall the last time I watched more than 10 mins since the Open finished

Why don't they show it all if its on in the middle of the night. What else is on worth watching?

Bizarre
They have existing contracts with tele-shopping programs starting from 3 a.m.

You can catch the full coverage and highlights on ITVx.

Trump Doral follows Singapore, with tee-off at 5:15 p.m. GMT on April 4th.
Let’s see how ITV schedules it—I’m guessing we’ll get full coverage on ITV4.

Quick update on the Fantasy - LIVin on a prayer still leads overall, and it's another tough one to call in Singapore this week. Koepka won last years event - it's kind of becoming apparent that 'horses for courses' applies on LIV - obviously the players can't duck events they don't feel comfortable with as they may on other tours - but Brooks is on record as saying he thinks it's the best course the tour plays.
Looking down last years results, it looks like the course might favour the longer players but that's not really definitive.

Rich Beem just said live on the sky broadcast

"Heard a couple of rumours about a PGAT player who is thinking of going to Liv after this tournament"

Who could that be and where could they be going, every team roster is Full.

99% of LIV rumours are baseless. Most likely that nobody is going nowhere to no roster.
Especially if they are only thinking about.
The LIV playbook to try to spike PGAT events is well known at this stage. You can read the playbook like a book.
The rumour was from the locker room at the players.

Nothing to do with Liv putting out any rumours, until Beem said it there were no rumours.

Why would someone so aligned to the PGAT say that on Live TV if there wasn't something to it?

Its not as if they need more quality at this stage anyway. While losing Kalle Samooja was a bad blow, since they added Theegala, Finau, Harmon, Day Schauffele, Min Woo, Zalatoris and Matsuyama, they have more than enough.

Nice diversion
No diversion. More a bulls eye on how many times they have disappointed us and failed to really land the players that would make LIV great.
The number that think about, or supposedly were, would have made a great tour. What have we since Rahm, McKibbon ? Thats really not delivering for the fans. The endless cheque book story rings a bit hollow.

Update to the fantasy league after Singapore - LIVin on a prayer has yet another good week and extends their lead at the top of the leaderboard - and indeed, is in the lofty position of T15 globally in the LIV Fantasy standings - I'll be telling him to ditch his school homework and spend some time doing some LIV Golf homework in advance of the next round in Miami... 😂

Other than chat about the actual golf, it still should be.

Perhaps a mod could relocate all the tedious trolling about low post-midnight viewing figures that doesn't really belong in this thread?

This is the place for it:

But yes, the very issue here with mentions of LIV outside this thread go off the rails. Its the same one LIV is having in the mainstream media and for broadcasting : its golf in itself just isnt taken seriously yet. Any pure discussion of the golf, its players, or its tournaments, just comes across as fake and insincere, and only a handful at anyone time discuss it as if it were a real tour. Everyone else oiles in on the easy criticism. It just still has too big a credibility problem to exist outside its own bubble without constant ridicule.
This is why it does need ringfencing. It cannot stand on its own two feet for real golf discussion. Until LIV solves its handful of key issues, prime among them, having a genuine top flight field - or else stop behaving as if it does which just makes it look silly - this will not change. Solve the issues though, and they might have a product. From PIFs point of view though, simply buying into the PGAT looks a much simpler solution than trying to flog a dead horse that LIV still remains.
