Is this the same GN who told the players they would be getting the points

It seems as if instead of making the changes needed to get points they are preferring to just stamp their feet on a weekly basis and constantly complaining about them I’m guessing thinking they can bully the organisers to give them points

Ranking points are irrelevant to the LIV events , there is no entry process to any of their main events via ranking points , they used TGR points for their promotion tournament so just use them points if they wish

The DP World Tour doesn't even have an event at the end of July when LIV is playing at JCB. Very odd for there to be no tournament in prime golfing season, giving LIV a free hit.

I guess you could argue that The Open comes at the end of a fairly stacked DPWT schedule. However if the LIV players fair well through all the majors, it’ll just drive interest in the JCB event. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some days sold out for this particular round of LIV.

It’s the week after The Open and also the Friday is when the Olympics is starting so golfers qualifying for that will be there in Paris

Normally there has been a little break after The Open as well

Not true. Until last year, there has (almost) always been a tournament the week after The Open. It's the strategic alliance that created this ridiculous mid-summer holiday for the European Tour.

Exactly. In 2021, there was the Cazoo Open at Celtic Manor the week between The Open and The Olympics. Gaps in the schedule in December and January are understandable, but not in July.

Cazoo was the old Welsh Open which was stopped in 2014 again due to lack of financial support and then Covid came and events at hotels were started to help during that period

But again as with the English Open - cancellled

If there is no sponsers for the events they can’t host them

The Hero Open also there so there was a run of 3 events in the UK - England , Scotland and then Wales but they stopped two years ago

Guess that means no fines (for opposing event) for those it may matter to 🤔

Less clear for Valdarama a couple of weeks prior, as it is really up against a PGAT event in Scotland now.

The Scottish Open ? Getting close to being one of the strongest outside the majors as well

How do the fines work out anyway? Do they get fined every time they play in a LIV event or just when there is a corresponding DP event on at the same time ?

I don't pretend to know, but thought the inference was only if a corresponding event -
"In April, a U.K.-based arbitration panel ruled in favor of the DP World Tour, saying the organization had a right to impose sanctions, including fines and suspensions, for players who are in violation of conflicting events regulations."

Interesting to see Sergio state he's re-joining the DPWT next year, and will play the minimum 4 events.

I often wonder, in whatever walk of life, is behind statements like Sergio made. I dare say there’s been a number of discussions behind the scenes between Sergio’s team and the DPWT. We, as the golfing public, only ever see the tip of the iceberg.

The DPWT are definitely showing more acceptance of LIV, maybe they’ve realised that the strategic partnership was a bum deal for them and see an opportunity to generate more interest in the tour?

Nothing has changed with the DPT stance

Anyone playing LIV events and doesn’t resign their membership just pay the fines to continue playing on DP events

The rules are the same as they have been since the start - some players decided they didn’t want to pay fines so resigned their membership , some kept it and when they want to play next they will pay their fines and carry on

They prob won’t be able to play in the Scottish Open as it’s co sanctioned by the PGAT

For me it’s a realisation from the players the affect of not playing in events with ranking points

As we know they were told the events would get ranking points - that’s turned out to be false so they need to find a way to get them , the Asian Tour doesn’t give them enough

Think it’s also a sign that there will be no “merger” with the PGAT with LIV
