LIV Golf

Most couldn't care less about the money already wealthy professional sportspeople earn, or where it comes from. If people cared about his stuff, they wouldn't be paying subscriptions to watch sport on TV at all, especially football.
Most of the snark comes from the establishment side of the fence (most of us don't sit on either side of the fence).
The divide was created by the tour refusing to even have preliminary discussions, and believing that no-one would dare challenge their control over the world of elite pro golf.
As I've said before, you seem to have a knack for only seeing/reading/hearing what suits your opinion.
That's problem with perceptions - they are embellished.

There should be 4. The majors have it in their power to have the best fields possible but if they remain intransigent, they won't. So possibly zero.
Before LIV and the PGAT cancelling of the WGCs, there were regularly 5, sometimes 6 or 7.
The one tournament that has been weakened the most is The Players.
There is a very common theme to all this

LIV fans appear to point the finger at everyone else for the issues

They blame

PGAT , DP , Jay Monahan , Pelly , Owgr , R&A , USGA , Masters Committe , USPGA , PGA of America , Sky , BBC etc etc

It’s all everyone else’s fault - they want everyone to change to suit them , all the governing bodies to change how they work to suit LIV - because LIV have a lot of money

Without having the self awareness to realise that the whole split and issues with tour golf etc started with them - they are the cause , they are the ones unwilling to make any changes to fit in with everyone else , their arrogance ( which easily transfers to their fans ) is backed by a horrific regime and their big pot of money - they have nothing else to take to the table

And I’m glad that all those other governing bodies are standing up to them , refusing to budge and change their rules to suit a very small minority of golfers

The sport is bigger than those 54 golfers , the sport will move on without those 54 golfers and those 54 golfers will continue along getting rich in front a very minimal audience

Firstly, "LIV fans" are golf fans; golf fans who can see beyond walled garden of the PGA Tour.

And please, do tell us again how it's golf fans, by wanting to see the best players in the majors, that are the ones driving division, when you're still spouting this kind of stuff.

Why do LiV fans assume anyone against LiV is a PGAT fan and blinkered by it?

I would say the same about many LiV fans that they are blind to the issues caused and faced by LiV.

I find it utterly bizarre that people are a fan of a tour. Especially one that’s only been going 5 minutes and causing such division!

The elite players will be in the majors - anyone who believes they should be in the majors can earn their entry through the multiple qualifying criteria available to all

And not for the first - I’ll let you know that I’m not a fan of the PGAT by any stretch

Perhaps you could point us in the direction of the (open) qualifying tournaments for the Masters and PGA? Of course you can't, because there aren't any.

The exemption/invitation criteria are certainly not available to all - e.g. many require being an amateur, or being a member of the PGA Tour (in good standing) - and many of those that don't are exceedingly difficult to meet without being on the PGAT.

Sorry about that, but my English born wife watched 4 times the amount I watched.....should have her do this.

Same as Mrs H. She’s not even a golfer but loves watching it on TV. Bizarrely, she’s like a copy of Vogue or Cosmo. She’ll tell you which golfer is married to which other golfer’s sister. What caddy is dating… she even know who some of the golfer’s top sponsors are.

Just to say im a golf fan not a liv fan and as far as im aware Liv golfers play golf...... very well
I'd go a stage further and not refer to 'liv golfers' - I never felt the need to refer to PGAT or dpwt golfers. Just professional golfers who happen to spend some of their time playing in liv (or whatever) events.
I'd also insert a 'some' in your last few words 😆😅

Probably best not to assume I meant something other than what I posted.

I think that applies to most people that have enjoyed watching LIV.

The initial attraction for me was the accessibility - easy to watch some pro golfers, on any media device, without paying a subscription. The 1st event of course had nothing like the field we’ll see tomorrow, but even then the funkier presentation of golf was showing its potential.

As a result of LIV, I now watch more DPWT and PGAT events, my interest in pro golf has been piqued.

At the end of the day, we all play golf in different formats, we all play the odd shotgun start, and we all play team golf at some point - fundamentally, it’s played over 18 holes in the vast majority of cases. The notion that pro golf should only be 4x18 with a cut is tired and outdated, and it doesn’t represent the game as it’s actually played by the majority.
What it does need to be is interesting, and for me LIV ticks a lot more boxes than conventional tour golf, outside of the majors and a select few events.
We saw some great stories last year, and LIV has the characters to deliver even more this coming season.

Im Watching Pebble Beach now, really enjoying Rory and Ludvigs group.

Tomorrow I will watch Liv and really enjoy watching Rahm,Smith, Gooch group.
Rahms debut is going to be great.

They are all just great golfers plying their trade in different places.

If you like watching great golfers play great golf I dont understand why you wouldnt watch both ?
