Most couldn't care less about the money already wealthy professional sportspeople earn, or where it comes from. If people cared about his stuff, they wouldn't be paying subscriptions to watch sport on TV at all, especially football.
Most of the snark comes from the establishment side of the fence (most of us don't sit on either side of the fence).
The divide was created by the tour refusing to even have preliminary discussions, and believing that no-one would dare challenge their control over the world of elite pro golf.
There is a very common theme to all thisAs I've said before, you seem to have a knack for only seeing/reading/hearing what suits your opinion.
That's problem with perceptions - they are embellished.
There should be 4. The majors have it in their power to have the best fields possible but if they remain intransigent, they won't. So possibly zero.
Before LIV and the PGAT cancelling of the WGCs, there were regularly 5, sometimes 6 or 7.
The one tournament that has been weakened the most is The Players.
LIV fans appear to point the finger at everyone else for the issues
They blame
PGAT , DP , Jay Monahan , Pelly , Owgr , R&A , USGA , Masters Committe , USPGA , PGA of America , Sky , BBC etc etc
It’s all everyone else’s fault - they want everyone to change to suit them , all the governing bodies to change how they work to suit LIV - because LIV have a lot of money
Without having the self awareness to realise that the whole split and issues with tour golf etc started with them - they are the cause , they are the ones unwilling to make any changes to fit in with everyone else , their arrogance ( which easily transfers to their fans ) is backed by a horrific regime and their big pot of money - they have nothing else to take to the table
And I’m glad that all those other governing bodies are standing up to them , refusing to budge and change their rules to suit a very small minority of golfers
The sport is bigger than those 54 golfers , the sport will move on without those 54 golfers and those 54 golfers will continue along getting rich in front a very minimal audience
