Just 90 days for an agreement to be finalised.

Do you think the framework agreement will become a definitive agreement ?

Shipnuck seems to have rattled a few cages with the release of his latest book. JT seems particularly perturbed.

And OWGR are close to sorting out the situation with LIV getting points.

I expect there'll be lots of conversations had and agreements provisionally agreed while Yasir is at the Dunhill Links, and in the forthcoming weeks.

Nope.
All that has been said is that the process is nearing a conclusion.
There's no mention of whether LIV will or won't get points.......

Its like the old philosophy question : does a LIV golfer hitting shots when nobody is watching make any ranking points ?

Bloomburg reporting decision on framework agreement is being pushed into 2024.

It would seem that common ground is not being easily found..

I guess the alternative white knight investors to save the PGAT are a real propect being explored then.

Which could be good news for LIV, at least in the short term, as the likely event of Newco shutting it down post a PIF/PGAT deal would be removed.

The question is what would the PIF then do with it. Hard to see how they would keep such a phantom tour going. The defection trail stopped over a year ago. PGAT players would have even less than zero incentive to move. LIV is even out if the headlines as a tour contender now, and never had any true sporting coverage anyway. The PIF would have the money to cut its losses and just pay the golfers off, and shut it down. Cam Smith would be a rich man, but would really be the only career casualty of the whole fiasco.

No doubt the push back on the framework agreement has come about as a result of a few rounds of golf in Scotland this week, where some very important people in the world of golf have been meeting.

They weren't there at Carnoustie to talk about the price of fish...

Very Interesting podcast by Alan Shipnuck.
Writer of the infamous Phil Mickleson book and the only written account of the formation of Liv Golf called "Liv and Let Die"

He believes that both tours will have schedules in 2025 with some co sanctioned events as part of the new co agreement.
Players will be able to play on either tours co sanctioned events with the vast majority being on the PGAT.

Both tours will have events that are not co sanctioned and are available for just their own players to play in.
All conjecture of course but he is extremely well connected regarding this topic so its well worth a listen...

That would eliminate the team thing I guess, which would improve those tournaments.
But effectively he is saying that would be the end of LIV as such, and that everything would be PGAT. Just some tournaments (unless they change that too) would be 3 day ones. PGAT branching out internationally for half a dozen tournaments a year.

Hopefully this is accurate.
JCB club would be a great venue, plus, it’s a bit nearer my gaff than Centurion. 😂

I think LIV could announce anything, and you would be excited about it. They could announce they're withdrawing from the UK altogether, and you'd find a silver lining.

I’m just glad it’s back for the next two weeks mate.
The Ryder Cup was brilliant, exceeded my expectations, but I’ve had the Dunhill on today and it was boredom central.
Admittedly there won’t be big crowds in Jeddah, but at least there’ll be some decent golf to watch.

Is that the same well connected Alan Shipnuck who 9 months ago predicted that LiV would have OWGR points following the masters.

Seems to me that we should all await the announcment.

Not quite. As far as I recall, before the Masters, he said something about a decision being made sometime this year and that he thought LIV would get points (when that decision came).

And to be fair to him, that was before the PIF/PGAT joint venture talks and the possibility of Newco simply winding up LIV was public info. Fair to say nobody saw that one coming. Similarly, that LIV would have no recruits for a year and find itself up a blind alley was not how people saw it a year ago when the Smith defection was still recent enough. Not many were saying that train would grind to a complete halt. On the basis that more recruits were possible, the OWGR would have becoming increasingly irrelevant, and so would have had to adapt and allocate them points. As it turns out, it just isnt an issue anymore.
