This has been a great week for the Liv Golf tour and John Rahm

Agree re JR, but how can you say it’s been a great week for the LIV Tour?

It’s been a great week for The Masters, and it’s been a great week for a handful of players who play on the LIV tour, but it’s got nowt to do with the LIV tour itself.

Nice to see Koepka, & Lefty back on form

Had no Liv players featured in the top 10 here or at the four majors this year, you can be sure this will give credence to claims / criticisms that have been repeatedly made, as @TheBigDraw outlined:
Considering all these Liv golfers are
past their best
dont play proper golf
have given up on being competitive
are not bothered about winning anymore at the top level

Seems to be plenty of them at the top of the leaderboard at The Masters right now.

What ever happens that misconception has been put to bed.

That the two T2 golfers and one T4 on the final leaderboard were Liv golfers, puts paid to the idea that those there can’t / don’t want to compete at the sharp end of golf…

Maybe the method chosen by the elite players on LIV of ‘peaking’ for a few events (Majors ) a year and using the other weeks to rake in millions / rest-up etc, is equally as valid prep, than the cut-and-thrust golf of the PGA Tour each week? Admittedly — you can try and ‘peak’ but the margins are so fine it’s hard to actualise — so there is no guarantee either way

Each to their own, as golfers and fans, but I think there is some validation this week

Feel it was a good week for the Masters Committee. They had some great storylines develop, and a few extra by staying out of the politics. Imagine interested generated was high, and many golf followers will be really looking forward to the rest of the majors.

It would have been an even better week had we been able to see it all happening..........but yes, a good week for the tournament.

He certainly is. He is exceptional, and no one in his age group can touch him really. He would be so good on the real Champions Tour. Sadly missed.
I dunno, I would take Padraig over Lefty comfortably over the course of the season. But yesterday was a stark reminder in what we miss golf wise from him

Said many times in this thread about brooks being a injured has been

It’s great he’s got himself back healthy he’s a straight up major killer at his best

But another final round of a major over par scar tissue forming

Hopefully Bryson can get himself sorted like Fowler Spieth and Brooks have over the last 18 month

It’s good to have villains back I was buzzing when Reed bogeyed 17 it’s absolute crass he was wearing the Aces cap it’s lifting tbh 😂

Mickelson absolutely fantastic from him all week really his birdie on 2 from the first round is a great watch on the app him and Spieth would have been a superb 2 ball to follow

I'm loving Phil Mickleson this morning.

Saw signs of better play at Liv Orlando and thought being back at Augusta could get him going again.

Great to see him back at the top of a major again.

It was a good week for the Masters, LIV and the PGAT. Turns out golfers can play with other golfers, and in Koepka and McIlroy's case, even enemies can practice together! (Although one benefitted more than the other). Despite wearing some branded clothing, Hovland's outfits caught the eye. It was reasonably harmonious, and even added an extra dimension to be honest having the LIV guys there - the Heritage this week is jam packed with talent, but there has to be some viewer fatigue coming - maybe I'll super excited come Thursday?

Umm why was it a big week for the LIV Golf Tour ?

If anything it will show a lot of those players what they are missing out on

How so, Rham if numbers online are correct won arguably the biggest prize in golf and won $3.24 mil, brooks won more than that chipping around round 1 of LIV this season. Granted from a legacy / history point of view you will never stick a price on Rham winning on seven’s birthday but how many non Spaniards would care about that?

How many golfers would prefer to win the LIV prize money over winning a Green jacket and The Masters Prize money

The majors are the biggest competitions in the sport , every single other competition pales in insignificance when compared, even the self proclaimed “5th major” is nowhere near the same level

Winning a major is the pinnacle of the sport - winning a major is more important than any paycheck

Given their previous earnings, Rahm and Koepka won’t notice the prize money from this week or last. I doubt either of them even know how much they have in the bank.

Brooks would give up all the LiV money in a heartbeat to put on that green jacket yesterday.

How did the Masters show Koepka et al. that they’re missing out on the John Deere Classic??

Justin Thomas, Homa and McIlroy, the three who the PGA Tour seem to be pinning their marketing hype on didn’t do very well..

I’m responding to your point to another poster, about how the ‘masters showed LIV golfers what they were missing out on’

John Deere Classic is a PGA Tour event…presumably you see a parallel between the Masters and that? Otherwise I’m 🤷🏻‍♂️ about your point.

How on earth was it a parallel between The Masters and the John Deere classic 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ - no one mentioned the PGAT

Most of the LIV players are going to miss out playing in the majors due to the drop in their rankings , even the ones that did make it will have to keep getting high places to stay in the majors

At the US Open I think it’s going to be just the 6/7 LIV players in it , and the US PGA will be the same

The majors are the pinnacle and by going to the LIV Tour many of the players closed the door on entering those majors.
