It will be on all the ones it was on before.

The CW app is restricted to the USA, and they're not broadcasting on it for free, as they'll get ad revenue.

Ad revenue ? Surely that means they have to sell ads during the production so that means it’s no longer ad free ?‍♂️

And has it been confirmed that it’s still on you tube outside the US ?
A TV deal on a non subscription broadcaster - something most other golf tours don't seem to have.

Didn't do Sports

Have you seen the programming on the channel - it’s free to regions yet still has low viewing figures.

“Used to be the Warner Bros. Network, but it's a TV network distributed mostly to otherwise unaffiliated stations. Airs a lot of stuff targeted at young people (that they don't watch).”

And why do you think it’s never done any sports ? Have they scrapped the bottom of the barrel to get CW

The numbers when it was free to air to everyone was low - why will it improve when it’s free to air in the US only on a network that small numbers watch ?
And so will LIV

The PGAT and to a lesser degree the DPWT have managed to convince a substantial number or people LIV is toxic, and if the court documents are accurate, have tried to do this by co-ercion of media partners. It's a tag that will take time to overcome, but you can see already that the general perception is changing.

You keep trying to excuse LIV not getting deals and media deals on it being in its infancy and now blaming the PGAT - are LIV completely innocent in the whole situation

Why can other sports get deals in place at least 12 months before launch ?!

Have they rushed through with everything without any thought or did they expect companies to go begging to them

It's no longer Ad Free in the USA, if you're viewing on the CW Channel

I don't care what programmes they show, it's a TV deal that get's them into peoples homes - to a new audience, and they ads will mean that the series will attract sponsors. It's a step in the right direction.

Which other sports had deals in place 12 months before they launched - ones that weren't affiliated to an existing sport?

The fact is this, LIV have bettered their product - again. I know you predicted it would fail, and I guess you will keep claiming that regardless, but as I said earlier, the TV deal is a step in the right direction.

But wasn’t it already in peoples homes ?

When people asked last year how they could watch it on Telly it was stated how easy it was to watch it via you tube on the telly ?

Cricket and Darts are two perfect examples

I suspect LIV is only competition that’s gone out there without - sponsers , media deals , sorting out ranking points etc

Have they actually bettered their product ? That’s the point - you just see “Tv deal” but drill down to the details and is it a step forward or will actually reduce viewers ?

How many loved the fact in the US there were no ads ? Well that’s changes things ( if they get any ads )

So now they've got a TV deal - which many (probably including you) said they needed, they don't need one?

For me, I don't care what it's shown on - You Tube is perfect for me, but if it went onto a subscription based package, I'd pay for it. If it ends up as boring as the PGAT, then I won't bother.

Formula 1 was being shown on Channel 4 not that long ago, it's a platform to get it into peoples faces, as is this deal with CW. New Audiences.

Anyway, if they want suggestions on how to reduce viewers, the PGAT have got that nailed at the moment....

Back at you ?
It’s the usual pr1cks spouting the usual crap and trying to shut down anything that said positively about LIV.
This thread has shown the worst in people at times, and that includes me unfortunately but there you go ??‍♂️
Keep in mind when all is said and done.....the market will decide. Do people want to see team golf?

The viewing numbers will tell the story.......

I don't have much knowledge about CW but from the little I have gathered I cant see how it can be claimed to grow LIVs profile.

A channel with small viewing figures mainly watched by teens - exactly the demographic that they already had most chance of reaching through YouTube. Are they really going to captivate any new audiences with this deal?

Surely it would have made more sense to just put their own selected adverts on their YouTube footage* and keep 100% of that advertising revenue if that is what's important to them?

*not sure if this is allowed on YouTube or whether it would have to be YouTube partnered ads like you get partway through videos now.

Are the viewing figures calculated independently? It would be easy for LIV to say that they had 10 million people watching on CW if the numbers can't be verified. And equally for the PGA to say that only 10000 were watching.

Totally agree

Same people, well one really swearing black is white just to try and prove a point to an event he has already stated he has no real interest in so basically arguing for the sake of it....again.

It's a shame as irrespective of how the LIV came about it is definitely going to change the face of golf and once you decide if you like that change or not the rest is all rather mute.

Absolutely right.
It's individual and team golf as well of course.
Liv gives you both formats to follow.
Although as I keep saying we must remember that at the end of 2023 Liv will only be 23 events old as a tour.
2024 is going to be the pivotal year.

I was surprised to read that this CW channel is in more American homes that ESPN and is part owned by CBS.

I'm still none the wiser as to how to watch it in the UK.

I would love a really grown up discussion about LIV but the trolls just spoil it and then throw their elbows out if they get pulled aka get off my thread.
Reminds me a bit of the No Laying Up podcast, they say some good stuff re LIV but then come out with snidey comments which imo undoes all the good work.

That is a bit harsh. It is simply a LIV thread. Are only positive opinions welcome?

If it is going to change the face of golf, then why can all golf fans not have their opinion? They may hate LIV, but as you say, it is changing the face of the game they love. I would understand your point more if people with zero interest in golf at all where just coming here to wind people up.

Keep going back to football European Super League. If there was a thread on that, would you only expect lovers of the idea to post their opinions?

What a load crap, even for you!

Why pick on 1 poster when there are others also swearing black is white or is it because you don’t like Phil?

Anybody got any plans to attend any LIV events this year? Saw a guy from Australia yesterday comment that their event is sold out for Saturday and Sunday, so he's flying over to Singapore (which is nearly the same distance for him to the OZ event).

Hopefully I can get to the UK event, although I've already got a few weekends booked with the youth and his golf comps around June and July, so I'm praying the date is kind to me. Might even sort out a mini coach from up here if there's enough interest, give everybody chance to have a few beers during the day and into the evening.

Done a little more researching

You Tube broadcasting is finished.
Liv didn't pay CW for the deal.

And as reported by Golf Digest this deal has a lot more than meets the eye.

Warner Bros and Paramount are now partially invested in Liv being a success On CW.
CW is owned by Nexstar one of the worlds most powerful media company's.

Golf Digest Quote below
"Get your Gossip Girl jokes out of the way now, because crazy as the CW might sound as a broadcast partner, there’s more to it than meets the eye. The network is under new owners in 2023, having undergone a late-summer acquisition by Nexstar, a broadcast and local news station behemoth. The goal, per Nexstar chairman Perry Sook, was to diversify the company’s broadcast offerings, bolstering the success of their NewsNation cable channel with a broadcast TV network focused on entertainment.
In the CW, Nexstar found a network that had been used primarily as a proving ground for its former legacy owners, Paramount and WarnerMedia.
When Nexstar purchased the CW from Paramount and WarnerMedia, they allowed both media companies to retain a 12.5 percent ownership stake in the network, meaning that both Paramount and WarnerMedia now are partially invested in LIV Golf’s broadcast success.
Ironically, both Paramount (CBS) and WarnerMedia (Discovery) are broadcast partners of the PGA Tour with billions in outstanding rights fees owed to the Tour. It’s early to say, but that might make for an awkward encounter on the next Zoom call.
LIV will continue to be responsible for the production of its events. None of the major players from LIV’s first season — from producer Steve Beim to broadcasters Arlo White, David Feherty and Jerry Foltz — will be going anywhere.
After a year of negotiating, it’s difficult to argue that CW was LIV’s first choice in the lucrative world of TV streaming (networks will pay some $16 billion to the five major sports and golf for broadcast rights in 2023), but that might not matter much. In CW, LIV found a nationally televised broadcast network with the ability to reach some 120 million viewers and thats what it needed"

I'm defo going to the London event to film a video for my Youtube channel about the day........and night.

The London event is reported to be 2 weeks before The Open which would make sense.

Just to be clear about my post, it wasn’t particularly about LPL. Look at some of the anti LIV trolls, I’m very happy to be corrected but some appear to only post on this one thread.
