Is your other half interested?

Yes and yes.

When I first joined the forum our PC was in the livingroom so there was no chance of her avoiding the laughter or the swearing coming from the corner.

SWMBO would have a look occasionally and be in tears at some moments of comic genius. Now she checks in regularly on her iPhone to see what's going on. You know what women are like for gossip.

She knows all the names on here and has her own opinions on some of the threads but would never think of participating cos' she would only end up in a fight!

She was well interested in golf before she met me and would watch it on telly ...cos' she loves Peter Alliss. We've even been to the Scottish Open to watch golf live and apparently Goosen has "a cute arse".

So far, her actual golf has been limited to following me round the course or occasionally caddying for me! You can't imagine the pressure!

She has hit a few balls up at the range though and she is threatening to take up the game properly after we sell this house (hopefully soon) so I fully expect to see a thread entitled "Wupped J_F's ass at last" on here in the coming years. She's a bit competitive that way, having played volleyball for Scotland & GB in her youth.

Really sad to say she's a golf bore just like me. At least she knows what proper golf gear to buy me for Xmas though.

:D

My wife shows no interest in anything golf related except when it comes to me spending some money on golf equipment. Then she has plenty of reasons as for why I do not need said item.

The first forum meet I went to she thought was totally bizarre. Driving for 2 hours, to meet up with a bunch of guys who have never met each other before.

Thing is, she would do the same to play tennis, but that isn't odd at all.

Women?

My wife has to try and teach teenagers about the dangers of internet abuse and that it is a bad idea to meet someone you don't know from the internet. You can imagine how horrified she was when I went to my first meet, which was organised by some guy called Toad, and I played golf with PsychoJoe and met another guy called madandra.

It's only gone downhill from there ;)

I'm surprised you survived to tell the tale Dave :D

To avoid her getting too excited by all the events going on in the forum, i just close the door and tell her i'm watching porn.

like most on her she shows interest when it suits her, take sunday for example.

Your in a good mood take it that you had a good game..... a conversation follows.

then take last night.

Get the old trolley repaired, i dont see that £300 is a viable bla bla bla.

My wife hasn't got the slightest interest in golf.
If it doesnt include the following, she doesnt care.

River Island

No, I'm lucky that I do all my correspondence from work.

Although I only joined my first club last year i have been playing the game for over 30 years, anything from once to a dozen times a year. But the good lady has always shown an interest in my sporting life. She watched me play football until we got married, and always ask how I got on when I got home from my games until i packed up playing at the age of 40.

We hope to retire to Spain within the next 3 or 4 years when i can play this game more often, imagine my shock the other day when she announces that she would like to take up the game so that she can play with me. Yes she occasionally walks round with me and has played a round or two. (in fact she hits the ball quite straight, if not far) but i never thought that she would want to take up this great game.

So i left it a couple of days and asked her this morning how serious she was about taking it up, apparently quite serious. she wants me to get her a set of clubs for christmas. Its OK lads i talked her out of that one, she can have my old set of red eye pings that my father gave me.

But we could soon have a new recruit on here asking Murph on what to wear, and does these colours clash!!! or that Smiffy's knob is not an old name for a golf stick (club) :D :D

she has absolutely no interest in golf, in fact if I had the Tv on to watch the Open, she'd sooner sit in the garden when it's raining.

in her world, the internet is only good for buying concert tickets, and anything that takes more than 5 minutes is a waste of time so the forum is a non starter for her.

but, every holiday she says 'take your shoes, you might want a game'. one day I will - I wonder what will happen then!

My missus has no interest in golf at all. Occasionally she'll ask me how I did but not very often.

She went to the Forest Pines forum meet with me earlier this year and really enjoyed the company and time there, but there was no way I could get her to walk round with me.

In fact, the only thing she consistently asks about is what were rickg's trousers like when I've been to a meet

I play every Friday with Imurg and CVG, while the boss is at work in London

She hasnt got a clue
I use a club trolley so mine doesnt get tell tale dirty.

If I do get permission to play its a red letter day

Am I a bad person?

Fragger

PS this is my 700th post, so now I go up a grade
woo hoo

My miss's has no interest in playing the game......She'll sit down and watch a hour at most on tv but cant get her head around how i can sit down for 4-6 hrs watching it yet she'll watch 2 full days worth of BB and those muppets.... :D

As for the Forum.....I havent got to play in a meet yet but when i get the chance iv a feeling that she'll want to come ........How do i make an excuse for that?

She wonders at time what i laugh at when im reading through posts but when i let her have a peek she gets the joke.....She's got a great sense of humour though ;)
