I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Last roll up of the year today. Back to striking it nicely, short game on the up, and putting really well.

35 points on my own card, helped our team to a comfortable win to scoop the pot.

Played yesterday and started well, but by the time I drank my 8th stubby the wheels started falling off, good new is I have dropped a flag off over my last two rounds and gone out point 7, so am now off a 5 handicap, yippee.......looking for a big Open to enter.

8 holes yesterday - 1st golf I've played in weeks - I hit 2 balls or more most of the way round so it was an efficient way t get some shots hit. Quite concerned about how rusty I've become in a short space of time. Our course seems to be holding up reasonably well this year but it's not a patch on Huddersfield where the youth is playing most of his golf now - he shot a handicap counting 78 yesterday which edges him back down to 6.7 - I'm playing up there on New Years Day with him and looking forward to it.

Genuine question, are you an alcoholic.
Your obsession with 'stubbies' is rather concerning.

Don't always drink on the course, but friends were down from Perth so it was a catch up as well, today is AFD.

Normally I drink will drink a few stubbies specially on a hot day, so if that makes me one, then I am.

Well I got half a round in. Me and two mates were having a great skins match with all three of us playing well. Starting on the back nine I parred our par 3 10th with a cracking 3 wood onto the green, but 11 hcap mate got up and down for half before winning two skins on the 11th. 15 hcap mate took the 12th with an excellent par, but after we all halved the next two, I took three skins with a superb up and down on our 200 yard par 3 15th. 16th was halved as we got a shot on the low chap, 17th was halved when 15 hcap missed an 18 incher with a casual tap-in attempt, and the other two guys halved the 18th with birdies.

Unfortunately we were then called in for fog as visibility was only around 150 yards. A shame as we were having a great match as I said, all three of us had 16 points in Stableford at that stage - and the next hole would have been worth four skins. We waited around to see if it would clear but it never did. We had two 18-hole strokeplay putting matches on the practise green though - more and more outlandish as it went on. Started off with simply picking a hole and putting towards it, by the end it was "that's the hole but you have to putt around that flag, and it's a par 3" or some holes we had to putt left-handed or through our legs. Good laugh. 😂

Shame we didn't get back out as I was playing well - reined the driver in a bit and hit most of the fairways, grazed a few edges with the putter. But probably best I didn't ruin it over nine more holes.

Played my 2nd full 18 in what seems like weeks today....
Started poorly and produced a meagre 13 points on the front 9..
Fared somewhat better on the back 9, in the strengthening wind, and shot a 1 over gross for 21 points
I've put a shorter, heavier shaft in the driver to try and straighten it up....seems to have worked..
Nice birdie on the 176 yard 13th....knocked it to 5 feet.....
Still suffering with Tennis Elbow though......gonna be a hard winter....

Having acquired quite a few chippers over the years of collecting golf clubs (combined with my atrocious short game) I thought it would be fun to put one in the bag, selected the Bronty Chip Mk II.

Played yesterday and had a few chances to use it but didn't do anything remarkable.

Played a skins game today which was pretty level but by the par 4 16th tee there were 5 skins up for grabs so whoever won the next hole would win overall.

I was short in three with one of the guys on in three and in certain 2 putt range so I needed an up and down to hopefully secure the half, I jokingly announced "this is the moment the chipper comes into its own". Clipped the ball nicely and it rolled up to the hole and in, much to the annoyance of the other three.

A chipper might be staying in the bag for a bit longer. :)

Had a round at Rickmansworth today with two mates. It's a short course, par 65, but extremely hilly, has some of the hardest par 3s you'll ever play, and for whatever reason it's become semi-tradition for us to go back and play it each year around Christmas to New Year.

Had a couple of poor holes on the front nine, caused by a couple of truly awful shots. Managed to scrape 14 points though with some great putting bailing me out. Tripled the 10th as well and was just starting to getting annoyed when I got an unreal birdie out of nowhere on the 11th. Necky pulled drive into the left trees, but I managed to sling a high fade with 7 iron around the back of the trees and onto the green, then sank a breaking 12 footer. That sorted my head out and I only dropped four more shots after that for an 18-point six over par back nine.

Driving was actually pretty decent overall, managed to rein in the backswing and didn't see any massive slices which is very good news. Putting was outstanding as well, I sunk at least four putts over eight feet I would say. 82 ties my best round at Tricky Ricky I believe so came away very pleased!

Took the day off work yesterday for a social round with a few pals. I didn't score but it was probably up there with my best rounds.
Four months in at the new club and I'm just starting get used to it properly. After many rounds of haemorrhaging balls I've only lost a couple in the last 10 rounds, which feels bizarre.
And after 2 months of carry only and trimming down to 6 or 7 clubs I'm possibly playing my most consistent golf ever with just driver, 4h, 7i, 9i, 52°, 56° and putter.
It's going to be a bit of a dilemma what to put back in when trolleys are allowed again.

5 hrs to midnight and all I'm thinking about is tomorrow's golf...

Absolute scenes on 18....

Started par par thinking 10 days ago I started double double, I'm 4 up so to speak
Bogey followed by 2 more pars and I'm feeling good on 6 tee... triple after a lost tee shot then bogey has me back on planet earth, 2 pars to finish front nine on 5 over.
Off 11 handicap I'm thinking this has 'buffer zone' written all over it

Back nine started bogey then 5 straight pars to lift my spirits including holing out after dunking into water on island green

An expected bogey on the tough 16th had me thinking I might break 80 for first time if I can only par the last two

Driver on par 3 17th finds the green but 90 ft from the pin but I two putt and I'm totally aware that a par 5 on the last gets the job done

Solid drive finds fairway and I'm too much of a crapper to pull 3w so I hit 5iron to get me inside 100 yards

Friendly pin position means just get it on and two putt... I hit the wedge thick and it's in the first cut short. Noooooooo!!

I'm cursing myself repeating , what have I done!! What have I done!!!!

I need up and down from 25 yards to achieve my 2025 goal of breaking 80

I've never been so physically and emotionally invested in a chip shot in my life. I need to get up and down. I NEED to get up and down from 25yrds... and I'm 6 stubies deep!

Aim 10ft left of the pin cos its going downhill left to right, slow on the backswing and commit.... Jesus it was the thing of dreams and he's only gone and holed it for birdie!!!!!!!!

The crowd (Me) goes freakin mental! with PPs happy but they don't know what's been at stake

I've done it, 78 gross, (net 67, 41 pts)

2025 goal....... done

What a day!

I knew that caddying would pay off, well done me man. 😁

I wonder how many times you have thought about the one you put in the pond. It’s strange how we shoot the round of our lives yet look back and still think it could have been better. Why do we do that. 😳

Something special in the hip flask me finks 👍

Played Sunday on the Dukes at Woburn, had a shocker in that I just couldn't string two good shots together. Had some bright moments but ultimately shot 25 over par, but I enjoyed the round and played with some good friends.

Squeezed an unplanned 18 in yesterday and the recent form continued. Had a very decent spell in the middle but was sandwiched between some absolute guff.

It all means I ended 2024 at 9.7 and start 2025 at 10.3, but at least it means it'll sound better when I go from 10.3 to (officially) single figures this year 😁

Played today at my second course, tee off at 8.30 and the temp was 28C, played in a two ball and finished at 11.30, temp 32C.

Drove the ball great, missed one fairway and was still able to manage a par, still shot 8 over though.

Next game Saturday and the forecast is for a cool 29C.

Just a solo 9 in the light frost first thing.......

Major, major schoolboy error.......
Couldn't see the flag on the 10th so I walked 20 yards down, got a line on the flag, got back to the tee and I still couldn't see it although I had an idea where it was....
Only stuffed it to 6 inches for a tap in birdie on my first hole of the year...
All downhill from here then.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Sounds like a good start but had to Google the word 'frost' , still not sure I understand 😁
