How's your season going so far?

My 12 month stats from HDID...........am I happy?.......you betcha!!!

If I can go on another run like the one I did in August and stop playing on frosty greens in qualifiers in the winter, I might be even happier.....

Frustrating year so far to be honest. Got a good cut at the start of the year down to 16.7 then had 3x0.1 and a whole load of buffers to end up at 17 just now - 5 off my target for the year.

What's annoying is the fact I feel I am hitting the ball so much better than I ever have done but just cant score well!

Playing in an Open this weekend, then having a week off while I go on holiday and hopefully will come back refreshed and rejuvinated and ready to make some big steps forward over the next couple of months!

Pretty new to the game. Handed in first card the other day which showed a hcp of 22 I think someone on here pointed out to me. Felt I was really progressing.

Played yesterday and scored 113 over 18 holes...

It was sheet rain and ridiculous winds but christ...haven't done that for quite a while, hopefully it's just a blip!

I never set any goals this year, its not something i've ever really done. I joined Thetford towards the end of last year having not played much in the last 4/5 years but wanted to get back into it again. Had to put three cards in last year and ended up with a 16 h'cap, before the break i had got down to 9, it was just going to be a case of finding it all again.

The first few comps ended up with a couple of NR's and a couple of scores in the 90's. Had a few lessons and bought some new gear including an electric trolley which has helped loads - since then i've won a board comp with a nett 65 - cut to 14. The following week was a 36 hole comp, shot a nett 67 and nett 70 off 14, this resulted in a cut to 12 and an ESR to 10 all in the space of a couple of weeks. Played last night for the first time in a couple of weeks and had 39 points playing off 10, and off the whites.

So i'm very happy with the season so far, no reason why i cant continue. Worked a lot on my chipping/pitching and thats helped a lot and minor swing changed have helped me off the tee.

Reached my season's goals of a) getting a proper handicap and b) getting it down to 20 or below.

From a starting handicap of 21, I've had a 0.1 increase followed by a 1.1 decrease to 20 exact. The aim now is to maintain that number at least, but ideally lower it further and I feel like I'm playing well enough just now to do that.

Are you on target to reach your seasons goals? No

How's your handicap fairing? Badly, going backwards

How do you feel you're playing?Really good if golf was a 12-14 hole game, having to many blowouts on the other holes though, naff all consistency

Working to much with hardly any practice and total discontent at my club/course has led me to struggle for any sort of form all year, I am throwing in a good 12-14 pars a round and allowing the other 4-6 holes to totally destroy my card with compounding errors. Not been a good season for me whatsoever and now just 0.1 from being off 9 whereas I wanted to be near 6 by now! Lots of work to do and lookng at a period of lessons and hard graft.

And I thought I was bad being up to 8.2 :D the race is on :D

Joined a club for the first time in January after playing casually for the last 18 months.

Carded my first round of 108(!?) and started with a handicap of 23.

Picked up x4 0.1s in the first four comps I entered, before winning the 5th with 45pts.

Happy with my long game and chipping is improving too, leading to my PB of 83 gross 2 weeks ago.

Overall, very pleased having made the Rabbits team and looking to get my handicap down to 18.

BUT....can't putt, won't putt and have been through more putters than a fat lass goes through cake.

Pretty positive for me this year...last year left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, won my first comp in April and hoped for improvement throughout the year but didn't get another cut all year and ended up 2 shots higher on my HC. This year has been steady, game really feels like it's coming on after lots of work on controlling my swing tempo. Striking the ball much better now and have carded some good scores in the last few weeks, unfortunately not all of them in qualifying comps so only been cut 1.2 shots so far.

Feeling good though, had a 6 week stretch where every competition card I handed in was under handicap....if I can continue the trend then hopefully I can get my handicap down to 15 before the H4H day in October. Do need to work on my chipping though, it's terrible at times!

Better than I had a right to hope for. I wanted to get to 9 this season, and thought I might get to 8, and here I sit at 7.6. I've won a couple of comps too but the highlight was a gross 71 the other week.

Focus on the short game has led to the improved score. Funny thing is I don't feel like I'm hitting it as well as I did last year, so I know I can get better.

I also know that any season that follows this one is unlikely to have as many high points, so I'm enjoying it while I can.

Started poorly with a run of 0.1s, steadied around the end of May and the last two qualifiers have seen a 0.2 and 1.2 cut, the latter being a PB of 78 and competition win, so on the year I'm 0.7 down but still off 11 playing.
B-Team pairs results have been good with 5 wins from 6.

My play, can feel good one day but the next I'm not sure where the ball is going to go so my confidence over the ball is not as high as it should be. (And the shank is down to about 1 every 5 rounds)
Off the tee my long held fade with the driver is now, more often than not, a draw and I can't make myself play to this shape, probably because the first eight holes on the course are OB down the right....

Down from 6.7 to 5.1 so finally reached Category 1.
Shot a 77 round the Old Course St.Andrews to achieve my other lifelong goal of breaking 80 there.
Won the Sunbury Club Championships
Finished 2nd in the Pyrford Club Championships and won their major pairs strokeplay event last weekend

Playing the best golf of my life and wondering when I am going to wake up and discover it's all a dream ... :D

Well I don't av a Handicap but I'm fairly happy with how I'm playing at the minute, hitting my irons better than ever & my scores are quite a bit lower from last year. Putting is still my Achilles heel.

Not lived up to my expectations. I expected to be off about 12 by now harbouring ambitions of getting to single figures. I did break 80 with a 78 for the first time ever today so im definitely on the right track.

Staggeringly average, bordering on a pile of rat poo....
Not beaten my handicap all year, best score of 76 (buffer) and averaging about 82...
Early season I was hitting GIR for fun but not sinking many putts, now I'm struggling to hit greens but sinking some putts when I get the chance. Driving is improving but still costs me a couple of shots- the rough will get cut soon so that should help.
Ball striking is just so inconsistent that building a score is a trial.
Loving playing, as always, and I always seem to peak in the Autumn so anything can happen by the end of October...
