I eagled the 1st once in a medal. 5iron from about 180 yards.
Thought it’s my day today.
2nd hole is a par 5. 11 shots later I’ve done my handicap 😂
My first hole in one went similarly. Turned up to the medal still drunk from the night before. Par 3 1st hole, thinned one that somehow found the hole. Thought to myself “this might not be too bad”…

119 shots later - on a par 67.

If someone had offered to shoot me on the 11th tee I would have gladly paid them.

I've been playing since 1959, and single digit for most of that time (still am, barely), I'd say I'm over 50 during that time (incl 8 HIO). Most are from par five holes, but have had a few hole outs on par four holes.

I think I'm at just 2.
Don't expect that number to increase significantly where I play as there's only one par 5 where you've a sniff of getting in in two and I can't get there.

I'd say the lad has had maybe 8-10, I could be selling him short there - again, he plays at a couple of courses that have driveable par 4's and par 5's that can be hit in two - which helps increase your chances massively.

I can relate to this. When I got my albatross I thought my ball had gone over the back of the green. Spent ages looking for it and had given up, but just thought I’d wander over to look in the cup and there it was.
I have had two holes-in-one. Both uphill par 3s so didn’t t see either go in😢

I've had 6. Five (counting my hole-in-one) have been at my home course and one at a public course here in Charlotte. Unfortunately, my last one was many years ago. The bright spot is I was playing with my son.

4 on the short par 5 on my home course and 1 on a sometimes driveable par 4 (which was 2 foot from a 1) again on my home course.
also another eagle on a different course, which im reluctant to count as it was a par 4 from forward winter tees which reduced it significantly enough for the green to be reached from the tee with an iron.

I remember my second one vividly. Saturday comp at a new club in the 90's, playing with strangers. Par 5 second, 2 iron then 5 iron to 4 feet. rolled it in and my fellow competitor as he replaces the flag, in a heavy Scottish accent (in Dorset!), looked at me and said "You don't scare me with your ******* eagles..."

Had about 10 over the years, mix of putts, chip ins and holed wedges.

None personally, however I witnessed one today on one of our 400yard+ par 4's. Out as a three ball and one of my partners holed an 8 iron from about 140 yards. The other guy managed a birdie with a long putt. I personally only managed a par, again with a long putt. So 9 total shots between us and 13 stableford points (I was getting two shots).
