The first HIO I ever witnessed was on a par 4.A hole in one on a par 4 would be a special type of albatross!
Yep, 2011 on our Par 5 7th, good drive then caught my 3 Wood lovely, knew it was towards the green, but fairway slopes from left to right by the green and there is a bunker on the right, thought at most I might of reached the bunker, no sign of it when we got there.Albatrosses are very much like hole in ones, you tend to recall them quite vividly. Our 4Ball witnessed one on our Par 4 9th, waited for the guys behind us to see whose drive it was, only to find out the guy was 3 off the Tee as his first ball he hit OOB.The first HIO I ever witnessed was on a par 4.
And the chap who had it was playing in a bogey comp - what a waste!
Indeed....Birdie on a par 3 treated better than an eagle ?
A HIO will be seen as better because it’s completing a hole in one shot - yep stat wise it’s 2 under par but surely it’s clear to see why it’s seen a little differently
