How is competition prize money allocated at your club?

Good question Anthony. I am not sure, but assume it must is a percentage. It may be run by the Pro, as you get a credit in the Pro shop if you get a two, and pretty sure it is the same for the hole in one pot. Competition winnings go on your account in the Pro shop as well. Sweep goes behind the bar, so all in house. Suits me fine.
We used to top up a hole in one pot from the "left overs" from the 2's pot. That is, if there is £100 in the 2's pot for a comp and there are 3 2's scored, each 2 gets £33 and the £1 remainder was added to the hole in one pot.
This was scrapped a couple of years ago as the committee was informed that the club insurance policy provided cover for hole in ones. The insurance policy has now changed, or so we are told, so it was decided that there will be no hole in one pot at all :(

I assume that over a year, they at least break even as I am sure some comps the entry fees will not cover the prize pot, others there is a surplus.

Yes, according to the accounts at the AGM, entry fees vs prizes given out was within £100, although I can't remember which way.

We also have a 2's sweep where each 2 gets it's share of the whole pot. No hole in one pot though, it just gets it's share as if it were a 2.

1st to 5th get money plus 2 nearest the pins, 0 to 18 handicappers and 19 to 28 handicappers. Twos receive golf balls. around 60-70 pay £4 and money is divided. All money go on cards in pro shop and can only be spent in pro shop. Most save up for decent golf items.

Club majors are prizes, provided by pro
