What percentage of money taken from competition entries is "kept" by your club?

25% to cover all competition related expenses, trophies, mementoes, engravings, boards etc. Competitors and competitions are supported on the day by the pros and they get nowt for doing so, and nothing goes into any club fund, general or otherwise.

So where does it go? Do the members get their winnings paid into a 'Pro-shop A/c'?

Entry fees go towards

Vouchers , boards , replica trophies etc

Then the rest goes into the club funds

The “percentage” will always depend on the number of players etc

A lot. I think 70%. And just 30% or so back in prizes, varying slightly depending on a given weeks entries as the prizes remain the same.
They justify it as effectively a premium charged for playing at the prime time of the week - Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Pro gets nothing from the entry fee, but makes money on the twos comp, where all twos payout is proshop credit.

So do you have to enter the comps to play at these times?

At my previous club apart from a few board comps/opens we were free to play whenever with no requirement to enter any of the comps.
