chairman of our golf club accused of cheating

Phones are more than just something to make a call on now

Lots of people on the course use them for apps , scorecards , gps etc

Only thing we say is just don’t take calls on them whilst playing unless in the need for an emergency
I think that’s how most people take it but the rule is still in place

Clubs are not very quick updating rules from a bygone era😂

I hardly ever get a phone call so I just ignore it and stick the phone in a bag pocket. If I did get regular calls I'd put it on silent. I tell my wife that if it's important just keep calling, I'll hear it sooner or later.

Or grown adults can’t do without a phone for a few hours.

I’m not bothered I hardly use mine.!

On my train journey to/from work I can guarantee I will be sat near someone having a phone call on speaker, watching videos on tiktok etc on loudspeaker, or listening to music via earphones so loudly the whole carriage can hear. This culture is spreading like thrush and inevitably is going to spread to the golf course.

Just sooo doesn’t have to be the case.

It has in America and everything there usually comes here - sadly
It is fairly commonplace in the US for people to have music blaring from their cart, it is often a bone of contention.
I must admit I was surprised a few years ago when the first time when two people who we were paired with on a course somewhere outside Washington asked if we minded if they played music - a bit non plussed I said yes. They were relatively respectful and kept it at a low level but still distinctly audible.
