Did you also tell them that you entered the competition without a valid handicap, I think you need to be honest and tell the whole truth.
Both off you should be DQ'd.

To be fair Sam, he entered knowing he had put in or would have had his 3 cards in by then and would be in receipt of his official handicap by the time the comp started, if it hadn't materialised, no doubt he would have just conceded.
Nothing wrong with that IMO as he had the right intentions, nothing deceitful.

In the T&Cs that you put up in post 62, it states that each "competitor" must have an active hc. Imo you don't become a competitor until you actually play your first match, befor then you are only registering your intent. I think you have done nowt wrong. :thup:

i would agree, Ilike to think i am a good judge of people and even though i have not met Vkurup personally properly yet, I have spoken numerous times etc and I would 100% agree one of lifes "straight up" folks. Hope this all ends well for you. If you are both DQ's so be it (even though i cant see why you would be!)

I havent been able to speak to the Nike guys, but I got a note from them..
"I explained to Joe Bloggs that if a competitor in a competition achieves a net score under the CSS it is his responsibility to reduce his handicap accordingly. If the CSS has not been calculated the player must use the SSS to adjust his handicap temporarily. Under The Rules of Golf if a competitor plays in a competition off a handicap higher than their correct handicap they will be disqualified.
I need to speak to the person in charge of competitions and handicapping at Joe Blogg's club to confirm Joe's score. It looks very much like Joe Bloggs played off an incorrect handicap but I need to know what his exact handicap was before and after the club competition."
Looks like adjusting scores should be known to all golfers!! Blimey..

Played off the White tees, and he beat me 4&2. At the turn he was 1 up. Gave up after 16th and turned into a knockabout with him showing me the member's line and me kicking myself.
Went something like this
Him, Split, Him, Spit, Him, Me, Me, Me, Him
Him, Him, Me, Him, Me, Him, Him, DNP, DNP

How do you get beat 4&2?
Coming back from 3 down to all square as you faced the 9th was very good and must have unerved him, although he came straight back at you with 3 holes again.
Just rethink over the holes you lost and if you could have done anything differently and take that to the next round.
When I don't have the honour, I never select my club before he has driven or taken any shot on the course as I may change my strategy if he's got into trouble and especially if its a shot hole. Don't forget your playing against him not the course. I love matchplay.

Yeah lot of learnings for me.. Including the urge to control ego.
1) His 2nd shot on the opening (P4) hole went near OOB/water. So he dropped another and stuck that straight into the water. I was yet to take my 2nd. Straight line to the green with some water in front. I should have laid up... BUT, got too aggressive and stuck my 7 iron into the water. He was rummaging thru the rough for his 1st and found it, chipped it out and 3rd shot onto the green and 2 putted. I dropped one, lost my nerve and then finished with a 7. if only I had played him rather than the course.
2) It was good to see that I was out driving him by 10-15y everytime (So always reached the hazards quicker)
3) He had a much better short game. I dont think I have 3 putted so many times in a match before
4) Learn the rules.
