For me that is not the case. I find my low slung Mazda mx5 easier to get in and out off than having to physically climb up an actual staircase on the rare occasions I've been in one of these things.
Fear not, Alan, in the (very) unlikely event I give you a lift somewhere, I can set the air suspension to comfort access for you 👍

People do have that "protect my children" mindset, but when you see those same parents parking on the yellow zig-zags at a school, or reversing into a standing child, you have to wonder at them.

Also the same type of person who instead of walking their kids to school and back which is usually a walk of under 15 minutes they cause carnage with these large cars they can't drive.

They do use them to go off roading; driving and parking on pavements to endanger other people's children.

They also drive them down the middle of roads with parked cars and expect you to wait for them.

Not a fan of the eco warriors but it does make me smile when they let down all the SUV tyres.

Until one of those cars happens to be an emergency worker on their way to a shift....

How do the clubs fit in? Looking at pictures of the Formentor's boot, it looks to me that they would have to go in diagonally.
Interestingly, when we were looking for my wife's new car, we checked out the Seat Leon estate expecting it to be an obvious contender, but even that couldn't fit a bag of clubs sideways.

I can relate to that. When looking for my wife's new car, another option was the Qashqai, because she has dodgy knees and fancied the idea of a higher car being easier to get into.
Turned out she couldn't climb up into it without a lot of effort!
I drive a Formentor and yes you are correct a full set of clubs will fit diagonally. But that’s my carry bag, trolley bag (a powerkaddy one) won’t fit with driver in. Have to drop the split seat to get ct6 in the boot and bag length ways onto folded down seat.

I have a 2020 Audi SQ5. Perfect car for a golfer. Your clubs easily go in the back without taking out your driver. Plenty of poke if you want to have some fun too. IF your taking a friend with you can drop down the back seats and easily get 2 big bags and trolleys in there. If needed it comfortably carries 4 adults and luggage. All round great car and I love it. If fuel is an issue the TDi S-line looks really good too, my sister has one and it has some get up and go in it.

I find it to be the perfect all rounder for me. looks pretty damn nice too. Had lots of nice cars over the years including E60 550i Msport, F10 550i Msport, C320 CDi just to name some and I would take it over any of those any day, including my wife's 2021 Range Rover Evoque.

Another thing, if you are tall you can still get a full grown adult behind your drivers seat. I am 6'3 and have no problems at all.

OK, so that means the Formentor ISN'T a suitable golfer's car (IMO, of course).

My Skoda Fabia estate takes a cart bag sideways (without removing driver), plus trolley and other extras.
It will also take two cart bags and two trolleys if you remove the wheels from the trolleys and take driver out of the second bag - all without dropping the rear seat.

Why do people have a massive problem with removing a driver to put a bag in the boot? It’s not exactly challenging or time consuming?

Are some of your forgetting to put it back in?

Looking at getting an Audi TTRS and just seeing if anyone has got experience of whether a small carry bag or pencil bag will fit in the foot of the new TT models?
My mate had a TT and had to fold down the back seat to get clubs in. That’s no problem because the back seat isn’t actually big enough to fit an adult anyway.

It's not a massive problem. Just nice not to have to bother.

For me it comes down to a simple design flaw in a car. Uncover the wheel arches (ofc not the wheels themselves) and they will fit

Same with things like prams

Boots should be practically built

We had to rule out a few buggies when we had our first because the wheel had to be taken off to get in the boot the wife said I'm not doing that everytime. I made her right

Mine fits with driver out , wife doesn't and way it's closed off the arches it's a pain to even get the driver in the boot full stop

Mercedes have finally got their C-Class estate boot correct. The W204 and W205 you had to remove driver or stack bags diagonally

A fine example of doing the simple things well

Both my old honda civic and the HRv could fit clubs in no issue that way

The massive seat Alhambra couldn't, but was long enough to go length ways

Ridiculous

This Kia is a Tetris fit but it does fit , such a simple design win to achieve

Of course mate. That massive extra 10cm width a Q7 has over an Audi TT will cause total carnage… 🤣

It's the people driving them, they would struggle to drive an original Mini without driving in the middle of the road. Stick them in a bigger car and the protection it affords and they are up there with the most ignorant road users.
