Ah - assumed you wanted all the detail. Private cars is a link on the right of the page. Basically 45p for first 10k miles, 25p after than. That's for all cars and vans.

I think you've basically worked it out in your first post. You just need to check the price of the PCP on the car you want. If you are doing 20k business miles you could be getting close to 30k total miles per year and the PCP on that could get expensive.

@WGCRider - I think the crunch point is the mileage rate that is claimable to by the employer.

As I covered in one of the points my misses seems to get a higher rate per mile but gets a lower initial allowance, my allowance would be higher but the claimable rate seems lower.

I wasn’t sure if HMRC had official guidelines on this. For example:

Tier 1 allowance (up to £4k)
25ppm for first 10k

Tier 2 allowance (up to £6k)
20ppm for first 10k

Etc etc
