People harping on about how their x iron isn't a real x iron as the loft is wrong. If it says 7 on the sole, it is a 7 iron. When asked what you hit on a certain hole, do these people say " Well I held the club with a 7 on but I actually hit a 6". Getting boring now!
I doubt it would help many.It doesn't annoy me when I get asked, "What did you hit?"
I reply very quickly with the loft figure. That is, or should be, more helpful to them.
Is the correct answer. People neither know nor care. To 99% of golfers a 7 iron is a 7 iron. The loft differences between eras and mfrs does not register.I doubt it would help many.
It wouldn't surprise me if the majority haven't the first clue what loft any of their clubs are with the possible exception of the driver..
My stock reply is "that's a club that I reckon goes XXX yards in the summer", they can choose their equivalent then.It doesn't annoy me when I get asked, "What did you hit?"
I reply very quickly with the loft figure. That is, or should be, more helpful to them.
These responses aren’t helping (living in the South East!)I pay less then 500 quid to be a member of two clubs out here in OZ, and we play all year.
