I've been looking forward to playing tomorrow all week. My wife is away for the weekend, my pp wife is also away. No rush, golf, a snack after. An email came through just before advising that based on the rain yesterday and the forecast for tomorrow, course closed until Sunday at the earliest. I have no issue with the decision, it's the right one. I was just looking forward to it 😔.

Well done to those clubs with a simulator, great investment in situations like this.

Tomorrow is our Turkey Trot and forecast not looking good. Normally if the course is too wet, they have a competition on the Top tracer, but as the wind gusts are predicted to be 50 mph+ (and a possible red warning for 90 mph), even this may not be a good idea.

Managed to fit in 3 rounds of golf this week. I reckon across the 3 rounds I've played 1 rounds worth of good shots lol 🤣

To be fair my wedges been good and so has putting across all 3 but the rest have been rubbish in the main

Never celebrated a battling par on 16 as hard as I did today. Was a good putt to be fair after scrambling to the green in 3

Went to the range today. The guy in the next booth would not shut up. Kept talking out loud to himself after just about every shot. It was quite funny to start with as he was beating himself up, but it got quite tedious quite quickly.

Course closed today due to the strong wind. 60 mph gusts of wind. Hopefully we’ll lose a few more of the leylandii because of it. Awful things

Years ago (in the early ‘80s before I was a member) the course was drastically changed to allow the building of a new road. The local council then gifted the club hundreds of them to plant on the course.

Yesterday I was held up due to traffic but still arrived in time for the booked tee time but too late for the chuck up, 2 groups having already gone out.
I got to the 16th tee and the rain was just starting . Realised in my rush on arrival I had not put the rain cover on the back of the buggy.
So just 'walked' in.

Course closed, which under the circumstances may seem a bit of an odd irritation, but the thing is it isn't windy here, and it is hardly raining at all.

I suspect the club made their mind up early based on the forecast, and it may yet prove to be the correct decision, but at the moment golf would be playable, fresh, but playable.

Bought replacement spikes and a wrench kit for my Eccos. Still can't get the old, broken spikes out for love nor money. And now I've damaged them further in trying.

I remember back in the day when spikes were plain screws the pro advising a small bit of Vaseline on the screw when the shoes were new to stop it seizing.
Mind you he must have sold a lot of single spikes as they often unscrewed whilst playing.

When that happens where I play they arrange courtesy tee times with other clubs in the area.

Yeah some special green fee rates have been arranged at 'local' courses (all about an hours drive) so that's something I guess
Since i'll be 'working' at the tournament the closure period should pass quickly for me. I have tee times booked for last playing day and then boxing day when it reopens
