I have had a GK 2 years now. In that time I have replaced the battery (2 year life is normal), needed a new elastic cord to hold the bag on at the bottom as the clip broke, needed a new charger cable as the plastic connectors broke.

GK repaced the elastic cord for free, the battery and charger cable I paid for.

Happy customer, unit has been very reliable.

Not sure what your point is other than to highlight that there have been problems. GK will normally go out of their way to sort these out. Its like saying ever had problems at your golf club? Things always go wrong but its only because GK have such good customer service that people feel happy to write about it

To be fair to GoKart. I seem to recall alot of the 'issues' that have been posted on here have, in the main possibly been caused by the user and not as a result of quality issues.

There was the handle breaking on one after the whole thing toppled into a bunker, if I remember correctly.

Mine got knocked in the bag area outside the 19th, and it was left in forward at full tilt whilst up against a wall! Very smelly and hot motor. The motor was replaced foc.

Rubber strap breaking. Well rubber does perish.

A redesign of the front wheel assembly, because there were some issues with the front wheel clogging up. Which, let's face it, does happen on most electric trollies. But GK free issued the upgaded part to all existing owners.

The original 'slick' wheels were free issue replaced to existing owners with the new grippier wheels.

My battery and charger were recently foc replaced, as I posted on here a couple of weeks ago. Maybe a quality issue I grant you. But tbh I don't know.

One of the chaps I play golf with has a Hillbilly Terrain. Less than two years old, needed a service, because of some 'quality issues'. Cost £200 to him!

May I ask who has the better trolley after that experiance?

Quality issues dog even the most expensive of items. I had a pair of Galvin Green Alf trousers which weren't exactly new. Anyway, they split along the inside seam on both legs. The pro shop said that I would have no chance of getting them replaced. However I dealt with Galvin Green directly and after sending them back I received a new replacement pair. The reason given was that there was a quality issue with these trousers of this age and it's only coming to light now. Whether that's the correct reason, I don't know. But I'm pleased that it was sorted.

The GoKart appears to be the 'Marmite' of trollies. Which is fine. I don't think it's any less of a product than some of the more expensive rivals. But it does seem that it polorizes opinion like no other product.

Leftie

Surely if you're not surprised this is going to be a "GK make inferior products if they keep having problems" thread. As I said most companys and motocaddie and powerkaddy in particular are two top brands that I know members at my club have had huge problems with not only in terms of the trolly breaking or not working but then having huge issues trying to get it sorted.

As you've said about some of my posts "whatever!"

Well as I posted in my other thread on Go-Kart I now have a replacement on its way.

Things break, unfortunately its the way it is, but Go-Kart have (for me any way) been nothing but helpful, understanding and professional.

On seeing my new trolley last year two friends have since got them and the three of us have had no issues with them for the last 8 months or so. Lets be honest, there isn't an awful lot that could go wrong, but Go-Kart are quick to rectify and return the item and usually free of charge to boot.

How many other suppliers pay for items to be collected?

As I have said before I was originally supplied a dodgy battery charger, but after a phone call a new one arrived in the post the following day, with a sleeve of balls....now thats good service!

I can understand Lefties reasons for placing this poll. After all, the GK is rarely off the first page on this forum for one reason or another.

I don't belive that any maliciousness is intended from Leftie.

After all we could run similar questionaires on TM club heads moving or coming off. :o  :D

I have had two problems with my GoKart in nearly two years of use.
One, I broke the handle. My own fault. My own stupidity. I contacted GoKart to try to sort it out. It wasn't a warranty problem. I sell cars (have done for 24 years) and know full well that damage caused to a car by "neglect" is not covered under any warranty. Never. I fully expected, and was willing, to pay for any repairs.
Result? They collected my GoKart the following day, free of charge. They loaned me a replacement cart (although I had told them that I didn't need it as I didn't have a game planned for a week or two) free of charge. They returned my cart a couple of days later completely fixed and as good as new, free of charge.
Second problem? The elastic bungee strap at the bottom of the cart which holds the bag in place snapped one morning. I had pulled it much too hard, so again it was my own fault. I didn't contact Gokart, instead I was quite happy to purchase a bungee strap elsewhere and use it. Wouldn't have matched, but I didn't care.
I posted about it on the site. Not a complaint, more of an observation.
Result? Sandy read my post, emailed me straight away apologising and a replacement bungee strap arrived the following morning.
To me, Gokart are the best, (THE BEST), company I have ever dealt with.
Would I buy another GoKart. YES. NO QUESTION. NO HESITATION.
Would I recommend GoKart to my friends (yes I have some) and playing partners? YES. NO QUESTION. NO HESITATION.
I just wish more company's treated their customers the way GoKart treats theirs.

I don't understand the purpose of the post either. On my course people are switching to GoKarts left, right and centre - so much so that we are planning on organising a GoKart Open comp this year, or possibly next.

The reason? Our course is very hilly, and very rocky - ALL carts have problems - wheels, motors, switches, electrics, you name it... And the biggest reason for people switching is because when their Moto or Power Caddy goes t1ts up, they have to pay a fair whack to get it sorted. My playing partner rolled up with a new GK a couple of weeks ago after spending 150 notes over the previous 6 months on new switches, motors, etc for his PK.

I myself had an ongoing issue with my GK which I helped identify and troubleshoot with GKs chief electronics guy on the phone. I was never without a GK, with their swap system, and all repairs cost me ZERO, even in carriage.

I can't see what this big bugbear for some people is with a quality British company offering a great product, and above average customer service. Whats to whine about? (This isn't aimed at the OP, just for those who say, 'if it were that great, why are there problems...')

nothing wrong with mine. being a frank spencer type, i've ran it into a ditch, dropped it off the side of a bunker and crashed it into all sorts, several times. Its never stopped working once, although it does seem to pull slightly to the left if I let it run off of its own accord. Its hardly noticeable - will be maybe 5-10yds offline if it ran 100 yads unchecked.

Battery is miles better than expected - one day I'll find out just how much juice it has, I regularly play 18 on a saturday and 14 on a sunday on one charge, and it never seems empty (based on how long the recharge takes)

Whats to moan about?

How many people here don't have a go kart but have voted so as they can see the result of the survey :o :o

Just thinking the same thing. I'd have liked to know the "scores on the doors" but if I vote I'll skew the results.

That's why I suggested Go-kart users only :p

If any non users are actually interested, it's almost 2/3rd - 1/3rd (not saying which way) at the moment which hasn't really changed much since early doors.

The only problems I have had with GK are my own doing and the service has been excellent from start to finish. I very much doubt I would have received the price and service from the usual PK and MC that GK provide.
