Do you have a sense of Humour on the golf course?

I didn't chose to view his posts in this manner, he gave me no choice at all. He came across on here as arrogant and rude, and is one of the reasons a rematch against hdido fell through.

It appears that he ignored warnings, so what did he think would happen?

Oh the irony, as I find you very rude and arrogant. ;)

But you could have, it was your choice as you state.

Some people can't see the wood for the tree's unfortunately.

There do seem to be some really sensitive people on here. :o

I thought bomber was a knob to begin with but after I while I came to realise, even though he was a busted flush, he was also quite funny. I don't think he took himself too seriously, so why should we?? Massive chomper that he is:)

It's difficult not to talk about him in the past tense. I'm off to lay a wreath and count my infraction points.

How you view posts is how you view them.
I read a post and take it the way I read it - I don't think to myself "Oooh this post's from Bomber so I'm going to take it as offensive"
Nobody "chooses" to take a post one way or another - you take as you read it..

Of course it's how you view but lets be honest here, does anyone genuinely feel his views on high handicappers were serious? I've known Sam and played golf with him for around 10 years, he has and will continue to play with many "chompers" around Scotland and beyond.

Personally I think he was rounded on by certain parties on the forum, in a similar mould to thecraw. I'm not going to criticise the mods here as I've had plenty spats with a few and those who I have had "issues" with know exactly where im coming from.

Live and let live, people who chose to find his posts a tad close to the bone could have ignored them (as Bill did).

All is said and done now really, sad day indeed.

Gentlemen , speculation on the whys and wherefores are only going to be negative
Suffice to say that he had numerous personal warnings from Mike by both Pm and email including a "final warning" which he chose to ignore.

Please read Mikes post on this thread and also the sticky at the top of the lounge.

Golf has rules, the Forum has rules, it's simple really

Still a load of nonsense ... There are rambler's on here that haven't even got a handicap and their taking umbrage when someone replies to their game. Golf forum or what?

It's all about the money money money ... 30 customers in retail sounds better that one half decent golfer

I agree he had to go if he ignored warnings:thup:

Just generally though, are those warnings generated by complaints or proactive moderation? Genuinely interested, no mod bashing intended

Well obviously some did take offence to them - otherwise nothing would have happened.
And returning to the "Sam's a Good Old Boy" bit is irrelevent if words he posts on here upset or offend someone. Anyone.
It's easy to say these "Chomper" things to the face as you can smile as you say it. You simply can't do that on a forum, even with smilies it doesn't always work.
And I'm sure, as MIke has said, there were warnings to change style or content - if he didn't then what else is going to happen?
It's akin to Speed Cameras being painted Yellow, not hiding them anymore and havong the speed limit on a sign right next to it - if you're still getting caught, who's fault is it?

Normally we react to complaints/reported posts. There are too many posts to read each one.

Good morning Geezer,

Are all the mods on here high handicapper's?

Maybe, but ability has nothing to do with validity of opinion. If that was the case we would all be mute!!

Our modding is never proactive , how can it be, we just react to whatever you guys post.

We had complaints and Mike personally got involved

End of discussion please, let's move on

Really? A tongue in cheek comment with a smilie doesn't work

Come on mate, if that is the case then some folk are way too serious.

Cheers Phil (& Chris) for clarifying.

Can you give infraction points for whining also?

I'm thinking 3 for an unsubstantiated complaint, 5 for multiple complaints, say 3 in a month. Also a 1 week ban for starting a new post on dress codes, driving distances, etc etc :D ( you could come up with a more complete list)::o

what a topic this has been, GM saying one thing and his mates saying another 2 sides to every story just a shame he can't tell us his side. maybe he could txt one of his mates who could then tell us his side off the story and we could then all make up our own minds. after going back the last few week checking his posts i could not find any remarks that i would have thought offended anyone so at the moment i am sitting on the fence, plus i need to speak to him to get as good a deal as he done for crawsghost so i can build an new fence

Exactly ... I won't offend by calling some novice a chomper but there isn't a 15 handicapper on this planet that would take their game serious, they've not got one!
