or on this furum?

The guys I play with all have a laugh and a joke at each others expense and its all good humoured, we even have silly names for each other.

But with Bomber 69 getting a lifetime ban I’m thinking some on here don’t.

I never took offense to any of his posts and didn’t mind being called a chomper or weekend warrior one bit, it is the truth after all.

So come on guys do you have a sense of humour and like a bit of banter… or would you rather not?

If my playing partners couldn't have a laugh either before, during or after the round, i wouldnt be playing with them again

Afterall it is a hobby, it should be enjoyed with those around you, not taken so seriously that you spoil the fun!

Both on the course and on here. Although after my recent infraction it would appear not everyone does................

Banter, Ribbing, generally extracting the Micheal - the problem with it is that if you don't know the person that well you have no idea if what you are saying is going to offend them.
Everyone gets offended by different things. I get offended by how easily most people get offended....
On the course it's maybe a little easier but on here it can't be.
I've met loads of the Guys and almost without exception they all love a bit of banter. That means I can give and take on here as well.
I've not met any of the Scottish/Northern contingent and although I "know" some well enough to make a few digs here and there it's difficult as I don't "know" enough about the rest.

I want (not sure if I dare) to ask what happened last night! If it's going to start a fight/argument again it's not worth telling me! (I'm going to have to start logging on in the evenings!)

I have a single rule when it comes to laughing at other people - If you can't laugh at yourself you're not allowed to laugh at others!

I try and have a good laugh on and off the course and sometimes you have to respect the people you are playing with if they don't share the same views but overall I like to take the p and I get it back 10 times the amount. Golf is a hobby for most and it should be fun.

no idea, got a text saying he had a liftime ban.

Ive had the pleasure of meeting Bomber69 on a number of occasions and a nicer guy you will not meet. I played against him at Blairgowrie in the first HDIDO Vs GM match and it was a pleasure to play with him, despite my having the worse dose of the shanks ever. For me its was all just banter, and i can't for the like of me see how that deserves a lifetime ban....

I have banter with mates on the golf course, I have banter with people I know on here... but I'm very careful what I say to people on here that I don't know.

When I am playing in a competition then I 100% focused on the job in hand and will not often speak to my playing partners.

In bounce games then yep I am up for a bit of fun and a good laugh, normally at my expense if one of the lads hit less shots than I do at a hole. Life is to short and we must enjoy it while we are here, must say I have noticed that there has been a bit of tension on here the last few days. I have also heard a lot worse than someone being called a weekend warrior but each to their own.

Bomber got a ban.... SWEEET!!!! Getting rid of the trouble makers one at a time!

Yep, love a laugh, my best friends are the ones who I laugh with the most, nothing better in life than a good laugh!!

People who look for trouble, laugh at others rather than with them and only have fun at others expense are not fun, its not funny and there is nothing worse in life... its bullying.

In this life if you look for trouble you WILL find it... its that simple!

The suspense is too much to bare, what did i miss last night ?
I've never had the pleasure of meeting Bomber, nor have i read every single post he's made, but i've not seen anything that he's posted that would warrant a ban.

I have a sense of humour on the course when I know the people I am playing with, as they take the michael out of me, and I them.

With people I don't know that well (or at all), like on here, I try to remain polite and not engage too much in the banter side of things, as you just don't know how they will take it.

I think it all depends on what got said and where it lead to. I saw his posts in general as banter but not everyone might see it that way.

He must of said something dodgy to get a life ban though.

I have to say, i'm only on here during the day so i miss all the spats as such, but from what i've seen i can't believe using the term " Weekend Worrior" deserves a life time ban...

A life time... under current Judicial guidelines that should make it about 8 years.

Posting a reply like that can be taken as trouble making.

Life is generally not fair. The rules are enforced for certain people and bent for others. As they say that's life!

If you can't have a laugh then its too serious.

I didn't see what he got banned for but I suspect it must of been a bit more than that.

He wasn't the only recipient of black-balling last night.

Seems a bit more than mismatching senses of humour. The anonymity of a keyboard and screen can have quite an effect, not alays positive.

I'm sure we'd happily take the mick out of each other (or not, as required) on a Golf course. There's only 2 people I wouldn't happily play golf with! I do know of 1 who has refused to play with me, though I'm not the only one in that 'club'!

If you can't have a bit of banter whilst playing a round with your mates then theirs something wrong. Some folk take this game far too serious IMO.
You do have to watch what you say on the Forum tho as some forumers can be a bit sensitive.

Ps any one care to PM me what happened to Bomber?

Love a laugh and some banter even in the most serious of competition. Time and a place because I don't like to be tossing about whilst taking shot.

As for on here, loads can be lost or misinterpreted quite easily.

The OP subject seemed hell bent on making his point that he was better than a lot of others - it was pretty boring to be fair. But then again, he could have been the nicest, funniest man in the world.

Sure do, life's to short, even if i'm playing poorly or out my skin i still like some banter. Never met Bomber had a few spats on here with him but we did say we'd meet for a game at mine ,unfortunately with my course being so poor this season i never go to meet the fella, but from what some of the lads i know on here say he's a stand up fella.
