That is a completely different question to the one you asked previously.
No isn't really - could you beat a Pro from 40 yards - yes. Could you beat one from 200 yards - no.

No and no!No isn't really - could you beat a Pro from 40 yards - yes. Could you beat one from 200 yards - no.
No it really is a different question, a very very different question.
Good luck then at being no better than you currently are!
Wow. What a worrying number of replies demeaning the progress of someone on here you've never met (and who I know well and have seen improve significantly in the last two years). Remind me what tour you're on?? If not what handicap are you?

Homer post 40 on this thread is a great pitching video you would do well to try out. Could revolutionise your short game if you nail it.
If I had lessons and practised I'm sure I could and would improve but I am sure we could all say that - couldn't we?!

I can play quite well but know my limitations. If I had lessons and practised I'm sure I could and would improve but I am sure we could all say that - couldn't we?!
Rubbish - if PGA Pro could hit all your shots for you outside or inside of 100 yards, which would you choose?
Just get a better long game - if you hit it closer then you will score lower, no matter how bad you are at chipping and putting. Just look at Rose and Sergio on Sunday - their long games won it for them.
I need your advice, should I work on my long game to hit more GIR or short game to get up and down more when I miss the green?
Both if you want to get lower.I need your advice, should I work on my long game to hit more GIR or short game to get up and down more when I miss the green?
So you're telling me, without knowing my game at all, that I would improve by working on my long game? Genius advice that, don't give up your day job (I say desperately hoping for the sake of golfers everywhere that you're not a golf coach)
Now now Gordon.
Surely TomTom has a point that if your long game is on it takes a little pressure off the short game ,if the long game is off a good short game could help save par.
The other obvious answer is try and get good at both.
Both if you want to get lower.
if struggling with long game no hesitation I get the pros advice.
struggling with short game should be no different.
Its very hard to self diagnose.
who would you rather play in machplay guy who hits all the greens or a player who doesn't but gets up and down from everywhere, I find the latter harder to deal with but both are good at what they do.
You have identified your weakness that's the first step and would be silly not to address it if it makes you a better player.
Cheers Gary, tried this today with very good results, need to keep practising, like it a lot. This is a great description of it here. Probably the best I've seem on the internet.
