I grew up playing Callander GC and off the box tees it had 9 par 3’s, and tough as hell they were, majority of them 200 yards. Off the whites two of them became par 4’s, the 7th and 13th.

The 7th was changed years later so that’s a par 4 off both tees now.

Three in a row, 9th, 10th and 11th.

400 yard walk between holes looks like a design disaster.
Nothing that bad about a 400 yard ride, however.:)

Seriously, I think that if nature happens to put eighteen really good golf holes on a parcel land,
right there for the architect to finish as much as build,

the walk between holes shouldn't be enough of a consideration to not take advantage of that blessing.
Nor should the complement and order of the Par 3s, Par 4s, and Par 5s.

If you have eighteen really good holes for me to play,
whether they be interesting for strategy or simply have beautiful vistas,
I'm going to enjoy the round regardless of the aforementioned factors.

I played North Wales a couple of weeks ago.

16 and 17 are super holes, but they cross each other in opposite directions which resulted in a log jam on the 16th.

We were behind a Society, I assume the members deal with it better.

I went 3, 2 so delighted. I then drove 18th with a 5 wood. (Down wind) 😁

That’s my club! Need to get you and other forummers a game or a trip sometime…
