How’s this for a hole in one?

That would be an 8 iron off the whites for most forum members 😉

Good effort indeed though.

Downhill, baked fairway, wind behind?
It is downhill, not baked, don't know about the wind direction but it wasn't that blowy. Not enough to make it freaky. It's a heck of a bat. I've played the course, was a member for a couple of years, and the guy will have hit blind over some big trees, cleared a good amount of grass kept deliberately long to put people off this shot, then had the element of luck in it bouncing and running up a long thin green to drop.

It's a remarkable shot, I doubt anyone has had a hole in one there before.

I've played with the guy before, if it was wind behind then I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 3 wood or less, he smashes it miles.

You can cut the corner and if you can carry it around 260 then there is a good chance it can get up near the green when the fairway isn't soft. I've been on the fringe a couple of times with a howling wind behind.

The most remarkable part for me is the fact the green is very well protected, there are bunkers either side at the front which are about 10 yards apart, it's a very narrow entrance to the green. He must have hit a perfect fade to get the HIO as the ball would have needed to run up the entrance to the green, if you just whack it straight over the trees you either miss left or end up in the front left bunker.
