Competition Sheets at your Club -What system please?

As the heading states how are your Competition sheets organised for members?

The weekly medal Comps during the Summer months are added to The Notice Board on a Tuesday 2.5 weeks before the due date. That is fine and people write their names down.

HOWEVER

When the sheets arrive there are alresdy 40/50 names on the sheet as various members know where the sheets are kept and add their names beforehand. Also some members block book with 10 names.

What is your system and how functional is it and what do you think about our system?

We use the brs online booking system. The dates go "live" 2 weeks beforehand so there is plenty of time to get it sorted also you cannot block book to the same extent either so it is quite good that way.

I only play weekday Roll-up comps and as long as you book a time -anytime - during the day you can play.
I've never seen a sheet for the weekend drawn comps. I think players put their names down behind the bar/counter but how anyone knows when they're off is a mystery.........

My last club put sheets up and you added your name if you wanted to play, including a late/early if you required a particular time. A proper draw was made and the start sheet posted on the board - you couldn't "book" a particular time just request an early or late time. That's the only fair way in my opinion.

Yes visitors can use it as well, they also pay at the time of booking I think. Brendy knows? The guys that developed it I think but this is the website to look at.

BRS system at our club too. Dates go live 9 days before the comp usually. It's a really good system and I've never heard of any problems so far.

We use the Club 2000 system.

Roll-ups are just that, book a tee time and pay your entry fee.

Drawn comps (mostly weekend medals and stablefords) are open for entry some 4 weeks before the date. Players enter using a terminal in the club lobby (you can enter mates). When entering, you select the time period you want to play in (early, mid morning, late morning or early afternoon). The draw is semi random (within the time period) and done 10 days before the comp, posted on the board/website. A reserves and cancellation list is also opened.

At our place they phone down to the office or when they are paying up for the comp etc they get the girl in the office to book for next week.

Weekend comps are booked two weeks in advance, from 11 am. They are strict on this, so 10.57 the book is not open.

Comps are played in 3s, and you can only put your 3 down.

Mid week comps are roll ups, rock up, sign in, and play.

online system, comps open 3 weeks in advance and as you are logged in you can only book yourself in, you book a comp time in 30 min slots and a draw is made and everyone emailed the starting sheet, means you get to meet other members and not just play with the same old clique week in week out- thats what bounce games are for.

Sheets go up on the board anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks in advance it seems, the sheets are in hourly time slots so you can choose approx what time you want to start.

Midweek comps are turn up and sign in the shop.

Pen and paper at ours. Sheets go into the Pro Shop a week before.

It works well for us and it encourages people to go up to the club to get a time. It also keeps the no shows down because you've put the effort in there to get a time in the first place.

When I was playing before, at my old club(no club at the mo only just started playing again). It was a real pain! The sheet went up, as one comp ended. So up for a week. You could only book as a two ball, on the time you wanted. If you were a single player you had to go on a reserved list and take pot luck. Needless to say I will not be rejoining that club. Oh! it also tended to be "times for the boys".

We use club 2000 software on a touch screen computer and you can just pick a time and book yourself in.

Though its usually the same people playing at the same time in their own little group/cliches which really annoys me as I think the major board comps should be drawn .

Boy oh boy do i know what you mean, joined the local club last year , time sheet goes up 8 days in advance (ie fri this week for next weekends comp) went to put name down and earliest time is 10.30 all the rest written in before the sheet went up.. we changed to online booking this year , what a blessing .. you can only enter your own name & 2 others (3 in team or 4ball comps etc) best thing ever.. it defo the way to go ..

We have no process at all, turn up in your group or find one when you get there, pay your fee and head to the first tee. Works fine but we only have 500 odd members and I can see issues with bigger clubs. Everyone knows you may queue between 8 and 9 but head out before or after and you are nearly straight on.
